Playing suggestions
« on: December 07, 2014, 08:54:06 AM »
I've been thinking for a while about getting an EHX B9 pedal but I just can't see me getting that much use out of it in the real world so I'm going to buy an electro-acoustic instead. I haven't played an acoustic guitar in many years so I'm looking for suggestions on songs I could play. I'd be interested in strumming songs and finger picking if it's not too difficult. Other than SI can't even immediately think of many acoustic songs I've ever listened to! I did love Classical Gas but I think that might be some way beyond me. When I play electric it's mostly lead and power chords so I'm thinking that having an acoustic might be a useful way of developing my skill level and opening up my electric playing more. Any suggestions welcome

The EXHB9 is useful when you're playing blues and jazz and can't find a keyboardplayer for the band. I'm afraid it takes some time to sound like an organplayer and not a gitarist with a tool (oh I bended again...).

Acoustic playing is a good training for the hands. I compose and learn a lot of songs on my acoustics.
Try Dust in the Wind from Kansas, Stairway to Heaven, listen to the old band Heart, Melissa Etheridge and songs from Jason Mraz, Ed Sheeran, Gavin Degraw, James Morrison etc.

I have a subscription to Guitar Techniques. It has some great acoustics pieces to learn. There's normally an acoustic part, and a classical acoustic part which focuses primarily on finger-picking more :)

There's now a C9 from EHX. Check out the vid, great sounds in it.
