I was playing some older things that I haven't heard in a bit this weekend:

Concrete Blonde - Recollection
Robin Trower - Bridge of Sighs

I saw concrete blonde in 1990 (supporting The Church), damn good live band (never heard any of their recordings though).

Been listening th Bridge of Sigh recently along with

Buckethead - Enter the Chicken & Inbred Mountain
Tinariwen - amassakoul
Donald Fagen - The Nightfly
and finally

The Nuggets _ both the original & UK compilations

Goodbye London !

For my part .... well, I've been checking out the new Motörhead  album; seems pretty good so far!  I checked out the new BLS, too, but I gotta say that it hasn't really been doing it for me that much .... :? Anyway, I was just on holiday in Italy, too, so I was listening to some Lacuna Coil (I'm a sucker for that kinda thing -- always liked The Gathering! :)).  I've also been grooving with UK psych-masters Sun Dial, various MP3s downloaded from unsigned bands on MySpace (of all sorts of different genres), and over and over again to one of my own demos, trying to figure out a way to get a better snare sound from my relatively rudimentary drum-programming setup! :)

IMHO, The Gathering USED to be good, for cds like Mandylion and Nighttime Birds.  Then they went all "Floyd" and lost me as a fan.  That being said, Anneke still has a killer set of pipes.

As far as Lacuna Coil goes... I dug Comalies alot more than the latest one... though it's still decent.  Not a whole heck of a lot of bands out there fronted by women that really do it for me.  I can only stand so much After Forever and Oratory.  Now Nightwish makes me want to claw my own eardrums out with a rusty coat hanger.  Though their latest is not AS grating.  I'm GLAD Tar-jaw left.  Couldn't stand her.  It'll be interesting to see who/what replaces her.

Later,
Jeff

Coolness.  JLT has one of the best darn voices in all of rock/metal/whatever, IMHO.  If you haven't heard it yet, check out his work with Brazen Abbott.  Cool stuff.

Jeff

Heheh.. thanks, TO.  Far From The Maddening Crowd is a really good cd.  Are you familiar with bands like Tunnelvision, Pantommind, Magnitude 9, Eldritch and such?  Good stuff too.

a lot of clutch and spiritual beggars happening in my ears just now.

You have also chosen tastefully! :)  Though I liked the Beggars more when that nutter Spice was in the band, and I haven't heard the new Clutch yet (though I look forward seeing them open for Motörhead  in November  ).

Oh yes indeed, I love Spiritual Beggars and the mighty Clutch!  Re the "new" Clutch album, do you mean Robot Hive/Exodus, Carlaz?  It's exceedingly fine, and there are two tracks left over from the Robot Hive sessions on Pitchfork & Lost Needles, which are just mind-bogglingly brilliant.

I've never listened to Lacuna Coil or The Gathering, but I should check them out - I love female vocalists in rock bands.

I have two new acquisitions from eBay today:

Y&T - Black Tiger
Trouble - The Skull (I just found out my Psalm 9/The Skull double CD is missing a track)
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

At The Gates... simply AWESOME!!  Started a trend that I love to this day.  Gothenburg FOREVER!!!  :)

Did you get the original version or the reissue with extra tracks?  I just scored the reissue a few months ago.  Nice to hear some new/old AtG.

Later,
Jeff

I've got a total of 115 days worth of music on my ipod. It's only around a 1/4 full as well. Freaky isn't it. It's screen works now as I dropped it down the toilet when i first got it and could only work it on shuffle play, as I couldn't navigate the menus!  They are life changing. If I lost it or had it stolen, I'd just buy another one! There's loads of rock and metal in it.

Jeff Beck is some of the music I'm listening to

Anthrax

SOAD

Devin Townsends Synchestra too.

Still got some Meshugga and Opeth which I like thanks to reading about them here!
Warpig, MQ,
Miracle Man-Trilogy Suite, Cold Sweats, Black Guards, Rebel Yells & Irish Tours!
