Right, did the 220KOhm / 500pf tuning to the PRS, here are clips with and without the tuning, playing the same riff and turning back the volume. Pickup is a Rebel Yell Bridge.

I have the feeling through the change in taper there are less many changes audible but treble stays definitely much better when turning down.

Click, listen, judge!

No tuning, just a CTS pot

With the Resistor/Cap tuning:

Ummm... yes, a difference - only slight, judging by my crummy laptop speakers.

I kinda like the treble bleed, seems more like what a guitar should do to me.  Like Van Halen labling his volume pot "Tone"...

If you know what I mean.

Good experiment though!

Mark.

Interesting experiment - I've read about treble bleed caps many a time, but never bothered to try it.  I think my PRS has one, and it works fine, so I left it there.

You can definitely hear that it retains more treble, but personally I really like the slight softening of the tone when the volume's turned down on a standard pot.

I guess it's something that could be useful on particular guitars - like maybe on a Tele with a powerful bridge pickup, if you wanted a more vintage Tele tone with the volume rolled back.

LOL, you sound like my girl friend man!

meanwhile I think it does great stuff in the Edwards/VHIIs as well as in the Tokai Strat/Apaches, not so sure about the PRS at the moment, as it seems the RYs are less versatile with the bleed, so yeah Philly, your comment does make sense.

Can you see/measure what value the cap in the mira is?

I'm not 100% sure it's actually there, I'm just assuming it is because (I think) PRS always use a treble bleed.

I'll try to have a look later if I get a chance.

I voted with tuning, but it's a marginal thing. And I'm not sure you just didn't play it better on that clip :)
