New speaker questions
« on: July 22, 2009, 02:05:44 PM »
I've just received my new Eminence cannabis rex and have a few questions:-

I have a practise tomorrow, will it be all right to fit it tonight, give it a very short play and then play loud with it tomorrow?

Can the impedance easily be measured, it does not say how many ohm it is either on the speaker or on the packaging.

I'll post a review of it shortly.....

Yep, fit it and play it at home for an hour or so.  Then thrash it.  Did no harm for me a week or so ago when I fitted a new pair of Golds to my 4x12 and then gigged them.

You can measure the DC resistance like you would a pickup if you have a meter.

Cheers, I'll happily thrash it!

Dave, you have a bigger gold reserve than the UK now, do you still have the 2x12 as well, or have them 2 gone into your new 4x12?

I have:

1x12 Deluxe with a Blue
1x12 Big Deluxe with a Gold
2x12 with Golds
4x12 with Golds and G12H Heritages in an X-pattern

They're my favourite speakers.  I've luckily managed to get them for not too bad a price:

* Two Golds and a Blue at £145 each, the best new price at the time.  Now they're around £195 each
* Three secondhand for £100 each.  One was absoultely brand new and unopened(!) the other two very lightly used and 'as new'

I got lucky I guess....
