Right, so its payday next week!
« on: July 23, 2005, 07:45:26 PM »
I decided on not getting a new strat set of BKP's, and decided to keep the Mule in the bridge position on my LP. Therefore I'm lookin to get a new neck pickup to go with the Mule. I was thinkin just get another Mule, but the Stormy Monday seems really nice aswell. What do you think? I love a smooth lead tone like Slashes, but also like a nice "stratty, chewy"clean if thats possible from the same neck pup? Oh and what options do I want, Alnico II or Alnico IV, and 52mm spacing again? I dont particularly want to coil tap either...

cheers

There is very little difference between the mule neck and the Stormy Monday, the Stormy Monday will give you a slightly cleaner tone. They both use alnico IV, I would advise against using alnico II it is quite mushy in comparison to alnico IV.
Neck position spacing is always 50mm because the strings narrow towards the neck. And I’d go for 2 con if you can’t see yourself using coil taps.

No Tom, Steve's right.....................funnily enough we hardly ever use Alnico II these days as Alnico IV is so much better.............similar output but NO MUSH :D which in the neck position is a really important especially on a LP.
the reason everyone else uses Alnico II so much is it's half the price of the other Alnicos-simple..........not us though!

oh thats why I thought Alnico II was the preffered one then, because its popular with the big names or whatever. I shouldve emailed you straight away instead of making this thread it was much quicker  :P
