Slot head tuners.

Is there any other sort? (I wish those gibson types used 'em as well - expecially on an Explorer...)

Show us the whole thing you dirty tease.

Amen to that, brother :D

Some info on the build:

Everything I ordered was in the "Showcase" so it was ready to go.  All they had to do was to fret the neck and add a nut.  From ordering to delivery it was 2 weeks.

The quality of the wood is very, very good.  It's nice and light - Warmoth quote the body weights of Showcase items on their website and mine was 3lbs 10oz.  Most importantly for a home build, everything was perfectly done.  The body and neck were sanded completely smooth - I had to do NO work to the body and neck at all, other than to oil it and drill a few holes.  The neck fits the body pocket EXACTLY, all the holes are in EXACTLY the right place and are of the right diameter etc.  I literally just oiled it up and bolted it all together.  It was that simple!  Tonally the wood seems excellent, and I think it'll only get better with use.

The only slight downside to the build is that it feels like a brand new guitar!  It needs wearing in a bit, especially when compared to my CS Relic.  But then you'd expect that I guess  ;)

Tonally - well, it's like a bigger, more ballsy sounding Tele with an acoustic woodiness from the semi-hollow body.  Very raunchy, and great for Texas Blues styles.  It would make a great indie-style rhythm guitar too.

It'll be getting it's first run out next week at my new blues band's first rehearsal, and will probably be the main guitar for that band  :D

result! the oil has darkened the swamp ash, and it looks less anaemic.

what bridge did you go for? the vintage or narrow spaced? if the normal hardtail spacing, do you find the high and low E too close to the edge?

Don't carried away there JDC

It looks grand TF - hope it plays as well as it looks.

It's great when you manage to get something done over the Easter break (that's not cleaning/ironing/decorating ), isn't it?

gwEm - It's vintage (wide) spacing, as that's what the body was drilled for.  The strings are fairly close to the edge near the 22nd fret, but it plays and feels fine  :)

Andy - yep, it's been a good weekend!

Ooops.   The posts were appearing so fast I missed that one.

I see your point about it feeling new.  But it should wear in fast with the oil finish, I guess.  :)
