Title: Dunno if anyones thought of this before..
Post by: _tom_ on April 15, 2006, 05:50:56 PM
I received a SD that I bought for cheap off ebay to stick in my strat copy till I can afford BK's for it, and I just thought how cool the BK uncovered pickups would look with the "Bare Knuckle Pickups" on the screw coil bobbin casing like SD.

Theres probably a reason for this, like maybe they are more expensive or something, but I think it'd be great..

Maybe you could sell the uncovered pickups with a little decal sheet (IE a black, and a yellowy gold colour for the font, for the different coloured bobbin covers) for an extra quid or something so you dont have any extra costs for the bobbins (I just noticed bobbins is a great word hahah).. but I know I'd like the logo on any uncovered BK's I get..

That was quite a long post for a simple subject

^ i agree, I had thought that too. Was probably going to ask if it could be done when I got round to ordering some BKP's.

I'm sick of Duncans being the most popular (in the sense that most people buy them, not that they're any good!) pickup, just because they write their name on them.

Yeah I'd like for people to know what I was using.. infact I might find some decal paper stuff from somewhere and make myself a decal for one of my covered ones... if I'm allowed to do that, I dunno if itd have anything to do with any copyright laws for the logo or whatever, just gotta be careful and ask first before I do it

The only trouble is, if you're getting awesome tone and poeple see a logo on a pickup from a distance they might assume its duncans giving them the awesome tone instead of BK which would be a bit cr@p  :P

Well thats not whats important.. Where can I get clear water-slide decal paper from to make my own decals?! Like the kind on airfix model kits if you know what I mean, they should stick to a powdercoated cover right?

I hate the fact that Seymour Duncan has to advertise everywhere, and I love it that BK's don't have that on the bobbins!  If you are putting the pickups into a vintage guitar, having the name on is a problem.

I do have a set of engraved BK's, but the best ad for the pickups is the tone.

It'd be cool if you had the option of either though...

The option of the BKP name on the coils is nice. Should be an option, though. I don't think waterslide decalls are a good idea. Some might stick 'em on non-BK pickups.

^yeah, that's true, ratrod- also, if you're a retard like me, you'd probably stick them on crookedly, and that'd make it look like the BKP workmanship is shoddy (and it's anything but, according to everyone who's tried them).

:D We`ve had this debate on this subject before. As it go`s i agree there should be a logo of some sort available for non covered BK`s....In fact i thought Tim was going to look into the idea, but I don`t recall reading anything about the outcome  :?

You get a sticker with the pickups, so just stick that on your guitar, then everyone will know what you're using.

It would be a nice option, though. I've always thought the distressed nailbombs with nailbomb written on look really good.

Yeah I just thought that.. but the name is on the baseplate anyway, so I dont think people could sell them off as BK's anyway..
