Title: Korina V
Post by: Jonesy76 on October 24, 2007, 10:43:55 AM
Right.........my good friend in the States seems to have let me down on my 57 Classics for my Flying V (not heard from the bugger!)

Anyone got a suggestion of what Bareknuckles would be good in a Korina V?  Something pretty vintage sounding, with maybe a touch of bite.

It could be Mules could sound too dark or fat in a V.

Personally I'd look into some Riff Raffs or maybe even Stormy Mondays.

feel i should defend my mule suggestion now ;)

its an '58 korina v if i remember correctly? i have an potted a4 mule bridge in mine and its perfect.

though i'm sure riff raffs will also work well and be amazing.

i think the slight chunkiness of the '58 body style fits the less biting tone of the mules. also, they'd be vintage correct compared to original gibson.

can play anything from jazz, blues, rock'n'roll, hard rock and the full spectrum of metal on mine:

i seem to remember epi '58s have a maple neck, and in any case kornia is a little brighter than mahogany

Talked to Tim and his suggestion for a 58 Korina V would be a set of mules, so when I finally escape for lunch I might well have to put an order in for a matched pair for the V.

Will go nicely with the Stormy Mondays in my Orville Les Paul, the Riff Raffs in my Shaftesbury Les Paul, and the Stormy Mondays on the 12 string neck of my Legra Doubleneck!

Mules would be lovely
I went for VH2s as my V and also the turquoise Lion were a touch bright at first and the VH2 pickups are lovely and warm but I bet the VH2 would be wicked

1 Pair of Mules with classic 2 conductor wiring and gold covers have been ordered from Tim for the V. :D

Yet another of my guitars gets a Bareknuckle heart transplant!  Seeing as I have the Orville and the Flying V as new toys to the stable perhaps I'll have to get some pics onto the website of my Bareknuckle brothers as I call them

I find them more balanced rather than bright
Depends on the guitar as well
If they are too bright - change the volume pot for a 250k or a 300K one

In A Les Paul Mules rule!
