Title: PG blues for a 335 ???
Post by: toz71 on October 29, 2007, 03:10:14 PM
Hi there folks,
I'm strongly thinking about changing out the stock pickups on my old Yamaha SA1000 (335 style semi hollow) as the stock pickups don't sond very musical to me. I suppose i should tell yiz what sort of sound I'm looking for :) ..... Think early Peter Green. That sort of outta phase ....ammm squaky ...nasal type tone synonymous with Greeny. I know he used a Les Paul but i Just can't play Les Pauls anymore...too heavy etc. I believe it's achievable on a 335  Now i'm thinking of going the bare knuckle route and getting a pair of calibrated PG blues which are out of phase with each other to begin with so i won't have to flip any magnets.etc. BTW i already flipped the magnet in the stock neck humbucker but still not getting the tone i'm looking for. Any suggestions??  Am i doing the right thing?

From what I've read, I think they'd sound great in a 335  :D

And welcome to the forum  ;)
