Can you tell me a bit about the riff raff.  I know it has been made to get that ac/dc sound but does it also do blues?  Does it clean up well?  Is it very versital?

AC/DC IS blues.......on steroids. Listen to some of the old stuff (High Voltage, Powerage, Highway To Hell) plenty of blues tracks.

ACDC is blues through a wall of cranked marshall Plexis :D

The Riff Raff is a great blues pickup and it also has the fire to rock too.I'm making them with Alnico V now DC8.2K and they've got a lovely bite.Think of it as a Mule with attitude :D

With alnico V is the pickup brighter compared to the alnico II.  Is this pickup clear (no mud) with good cleans with the alnico V.  Im also looking for some versitality, not just one sound.

I have a Riff-Raff V with a Stormy Monday (IV) neck in a Les Paul and it is great for blues.  There is no mud in this pickup, lots of harmonics, nice bass and good drive.  The match with the Stormy Monday gives you that early Peter Green sound.

When I originally voiced the Riff Raff, it had Alnico II magnets and a different wind.As I'm want to do, I revoiced it a while ago as I felt it needed a tweak-I'm constantly reappraising the range to see if there is any room for improvement.The original was nice and clear but I felt an altered wind and new magnet gave a marked improvement.Phil King has the new RR and was one of the first to have it.
The revoiced Riff Raff is a great workhorse humbucker-bright, punchy and a nice mid range growl without being honky or overbearing.If the Mule is too polite for your tastes then that's where the Riff Raff steps in, a hint more power and aggressive attitude.
