Title: Free plectrum with BKP's ??!!
Post by: Custom79 on August 08, 2005, 08:11:57 PM
Hi guys,
Just wondering what gauge plectrum is free with the Bare Knuckle pickups ? I picked my pups up on Saturday and started to use the free pick as I'd mislaid mine and I really like it. I usually use Dunlop 2.00 mm (roof slates) but I liked the feel of this pick and if it wasn't BKP's thickest I may order some to try.

Cheers,

Ainsley

Yes very nice for a thin one indeed.
I would have liked to have tried one a tad thicker as it's quite a jump from a 2.00mm which I love as you can really dig in.

They're extra heavy 1.21mm celluloid picks that we have made for us by D'andrea.Funnily enough I find that thicker picks lose the edge of the note and the overall attack loses definition. The XH is as thick as they go though with the custom picks.

That's just what I'm finding Tim especially with the Les Paul, not too noticable with the PRSi.I've used the 2.00mm for years and everyone takes the piss out of me but yours is the best thinner pick I've played in years, you sure know what us lot need mate.
Finally got in touch with my tech today so the pickups are getting fitted on Friday, then I just have to wait for the refret. Can't wait as I've got a gig in a couple of weeks and want to take it out for a spin  :D

tortex jazz 3? Is this some new pick, I use a black jazz 3 pick and Its really good for playing lead but kinda cr@p for strumming. I find because the pick is so small I keep touching the strings when i pick. Ah well bugger guess I need more praccy.

i used the same metal pick for years, lost it , found anot as good replacement, found it again when i was moving house and have now lost it again. I tend to use whatever is handy now, dont get to acttached. The bare knuckle ones are my favourite of the moment!
A nice touch tim, how about more free stuff!!

^hehe that would be nice :P

I use dunlop 1.5mm with a little chunk of sand paper glued to each side.

Might glue som sand paper onto the bare knuckle ones and see what there like.

I like the Blue Tortex ones, I think they are 1mm, maybe 1.14 or something...

Just the right balance for me.

Ultex 73mm are indestructable and can chug hard but I love the sharp Ibanez Paul Gilbert 1mm and the multi-guage Delrin Dava Control pick is great for funky strumming.

Has anyone else tried the STYLUS TRAINING PICK?

It does me good but it drives me mad...

I've wanted to try that for ages but I never got round to it! I actually noticed last night, the BKP picks are "rough" or something, compared to my Tortex 1.5mm. I dont seem to be able to alternate pick as fast  or as smoothly  :?

Try the Stylus pick, the principle is spot on as it forces you to only use the very tip.

You have been warned though, it will drive you through every negative emotion along the way..

I like John Pearse Studio medium picks.  They have an asymetrical shape and are great for pich harmonics.

haha I know, its weird! They feel smooth to the touch, the same as my dunlop does, but when I play with it it feels "slower" than the dunlop..its relaly weird!

The picks we give away are made of celluloid, the original material introduced by D'Andrea. It bevells really quickly and produces a really fast attack with plenty of definition.
D'andrea make them specially for us...........we also stock all other gauges in the shop!

I've been going between my Dunlop 2.0mm and BKP pick all week and just can't decide what's best  :( I think if the BKP one was just a bit thicker it would be a winner
