Title: Price Opinion
Post by: Dakine on November 02, 2007, 05:24:28 AM
OK,
awaiting listing/selling couple of things but as in US WAAAAY more than UK and these things are not 'run of the mill' am open to opinions.

Gonna sell my 2005 Limited Edition Ernie Ball Petrucci Piezo. FULLY loaded in custom G&G hardcase, PRISTINE, with both orig. pups AND the pre-production Painkiller pups Tim sent me.

Also, my Rivera Knucklehead 55 Reverb fully midi with footswitch. Never gigged and tbh with about only 10hrs or less of play.

Neither of these are 'typical' items for the bay etc. so any idea on start price etc.?

BTW, reason is I never gelled with the Pet and the Rivera is useless here in Texas (due to voltage). But I aim to replace it with a US K-Tre anywhoo.

Ok mate, here’s my take on the current market (I am assuming these items are both located in the UK).

Used gear prices seem pretty depressed at the moment, I think there are several factors

1)   The pound is strong against the dollar so it’s cheap to import from the states
2)   Xmas just round the corner so money is being set aside for that
3)   There is an air of uncertainty in the current economic climate as a whole and luxury items are always the 1st to feel the pinch.

There are a couple of Pet’s on the bay at the moment (mostly the red ones so not nearly as nice as yours) but people are struggling to get £800 for them.

Although saying that, like you say, your stuff is not run of the mill so I would list them with a low starting bid but set the reserve to the minimum you would be happy with.

I would also have a go at shifting your pet on the music man forums.

I am very tempted to make you an offer on that pet but I am not really into rosewood boards (edit: sod it, I have PM'd you about the pet)

Yeah Cheers Dazza,
replied to pm.
Thing is these two are NOT run of the mill so figures are hard to come by.
But indeed was thinking of no reserve but with lowest starting price would take. Just feeling for a good start price guess esp. with the Rivera. HATE to sell that amazing amp but it's just not practical with me being in Texas so much. Alot better to buy a US spec. Rivera here.

That Rivera looks like a nice piece of kit - bet you can nail lots of tones with that amp.

from the sweetest chimeing cleans to classic rock to full on brutal metal. And all that without pedals or using the midi!

But alas, 240volt to 115volt don't mix  :(  So she has ta go, but will make way for a K-Tre me thinks

Just a thought, but if you really like the amp why don't you look into a 115/230 volt transformer? (a lot of gear works at 230 these days, despite our voltage being 240 in theory). Take a look at this:

http://www.starkelectronic.com/st500.htm

It's a stepup / stepdown transformer, so it works both ways. I haven't looked into it but you may even be able to get one that cleans up the AC a little.

Of course if you just want to shift the amp that's another matter.

It's 240volt in UK and I now reside in Texas so would be a stepdown tranny.
Easier and safer to sell and buy one here in US.

I'll make that £25!

If only I could afford that, I'd put it to a good home :(  Sadly, I think Mrs Roo might divorce me if I did that, especially given my current GAS plans!!

ONLY thing in common with Cadbury is it can easily nail the tones of the two biggest bands to come outta the black country.

I don't see how The Move & Spenser Davies group are reflected in the tonal possibilitys of something which is almost chocolate

Personally I preferred The Sweet to good ole Ambrose Slade

I wish I could make you a concrete offer mate, I really do - if you see my thread about 900-alikes, you'll see my dilemma of a pickle.

It's probably gonna be next year before I have the means and funds to make such an uber purchase. All I could offer now is to pencil it in but that's obviously not the same as fat cash, hehe.
