god damn it, just read there are 2 g12h speakers..whats the difference other than price

Actually, the designations are as follows:

Celestion G12H30 (this is the cheaper one).  Usually, when folks write "G12H" alone they mean this speaker.  Sometimes, people add the "Anniversary" or "70th Anniversary" designation to this model.

Celestion Heritage G12H (or sometimes "G12H Heritage").  This is the more expensive one.  Note that it does *not* have "30" in the model designation.

Both Anniversary and Heritage's need some serious pounding to break them in.
   The main difference in the specs, is that the Heritage has a 55Hz cone as opposed to the Anni's 75Hz cone. So theoretically, the Heritage has a more extended bass frequency response.
  In reality, the Anniversary version will not be found lacking in bass !

55Hz bass cones are thicker, and therefore don't produce as much high end.  I think they're smoother up top and not quite as snarly in the mids.  The bass end is similar on both for guitar use imo.

The 55Hz cones still have a nice, even treble response though (not dull in any way).  I think it'd be nice to have two 75Hz G12Hs and two 55Hz G12Hs in a 4x12 and see how much variation in the tone you'd get.

All the old G12Ms and G12Hs I've had over the years have varied alot.  I remember two pre-rola G12H-30s I had in a chequerboard Marshall 2x12 sounded VERY different.  One was bassy and smooth all round, the other had much less bass and the most aggressive midrange snarl I've ever heard (mic'd up a treat when recording).  

The speakers Celestion produce now are much more consistent and generally sound great (except for their current-production G12M-25s which I think sound horrid and nothing like any old G12M-25s I've ever owned)
