I own Yamaha rgx820z, it has a solid alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard.
Seymour Duncan 59 neck and JB bridge pickups.
I'm looking for more darker and fatter sound. I play mostly hard rock, grunge, some maiden, metallica stuff...
Suggestions?
How would crawlers sound in alder body?

The Painkillers are voiced for alder, but they might have a bit hotter output than what you are looking for.
What playing style? Amp/cab?

According to the product page, Crawlers were designed to work in both Les Pauls and Strats, so I guess they'd work well in alder.
Don't know how they sound though, I don't have a set (although Tim and the team may be building mine as we speak! :) ).

amp is hughes&kettner trilogy with 4x12 celestion v30 speakers.
I play everything from acdc, gary moore, creed, alice in chains, metallica, iron maiden, rhchp, velvet revolver, helloween, staind, papa roach...

i don't think it would sound darker
i find the pk a lot brighter than my holy diver, my ex-miracle man and the warpig too

Ive got a crawler bridge pickup in a strat type (i cannot for the life of me remember what I had the body built out of, but it probably is alder!), maple neck and rosewood fingerboard and I wouldn't describe it as 'dark' sounding - my clips on here are through a JCM800 so probably not much help to you in judging...but it does sound fantastic :)

Kevin your clips sound amazing to me.
I guess I'll just sleepover and than chose which pickups.
thanks guys

thanks 8) sleep on it..then email Tim - he will be able to give you a definitive answer :)

I would go with the crawler also. I have one in a Kramer stagemaster neck thru alder winds and couldn't be happier.
