Heard a discrete whisper today that Orange may be bringing out a 30w version of the Tiny Terror (i.e. one with four EL84 output valves).
Anyone else heard this???????
-
Not heard that. I wonder what price point it would ba at?
-
Yaaaaaaaaaaay!
I hope its cheap though. I cant afford £1000 amps :(
If anyone is needing to get rid of an Orange Thunderverb for next to nothing.....
-
When I saw the thread title I thought bugger, they're changing it already and I haven't even got mine yet! :(
But it's a different amp, cool. I think it should have a new name, 30W isn't "tiny" even if it's still physically small. The Little Monster maybe? (I actually wrote Little B@stard but it changes it to "bar-steward". Harumph. )
-
Bar-stewards can be Bast*rds though..
-
Shall we just make up names for it?
To start off; Mouthy Midget
Destroying Dwarf
ovulating orang-utan
Particularly miffed Toaster
Grit Gasper
Truer Terror
Big B@stard
Not-so-Gentle Giant
Guitar amp Head - in more ways than one boys
These are really rubbish aren't they
-
Switchblade Satsuma.
-
Big Brother
I really want a switch-blade satsuma though...
Cutting Clementine anyone?
Satsuma Stiletto!
mine all pale to yours...

I imagine it will come between the TT and the AD30HTC.
-
I reckon if they make it, it'll be £399 street price. That would be for a single channel amp with half power, just like the TT but with four output valves. Any other fancy bits and they'll push the price up....
-
Where d'you hear that one TF? :)
The only thing that occurs to me is that it would clash with other amps in the Orange range, the AD30 and the Rocker 30. Do they need another 30 watter?

+1
The TT is 499 EUR and the Rocker 30 is 999. Rocker 30 is an awesome amp too by the way.
Only thing I could imagine to make sense would be a TT with a loop and 2 switchable gains for 599 or so.
The whole point of the TT is the fact that it's low wattage. I couldn't imagine there is really a target group for a 30W TT.

lmao @ Cutting Clementine, you should send that in...

AD30 heads are twin channel amps, I reckon there's room for a single channel 30 watter.
And I can't reveal my sources ;)
-
call me a philistine, but i'd like to see one with a tone stack.

i guess i just want a semi-boutique 15w version of my master volume.

AD30 heads are twin channel amps,
Mine isn't ;)
-
uh oh...
this thread is going to be one that goes on for ages isn't it
also much  . Just as I felt all the options were either unreasonably priced, or not good enough, a 4 EL84 amp suddenly appears.
TwinFan.... well you can't tell us about the rumour and not confirm sources :o
-
Alright Brow, the new AD30 heads are two channel ;)
My source was second hand. First hand info came from someone at Orange. I reckon it's pretty reliable ;)

I'll let ya have that 1 then ;)
I personally don't see the point in a 30w TT myself. You can pickup single channel 30w AD30s like mine for about £300 - £400.
Depends what you need in an amp I s'ppose :)

Ha! My thoughts exactly when I read the thread title. I just forked over $150 to the local Orange dealer to put my name next to one of the new Tiny Terrors when they arrive (I hope) in early December.
I would have been pissed off the learn that there was a Tiny Terror "Plus" with an effects loop or line out or something! But Orange isn't that dumb; they've got a great thing going with the TT *JUST AS IT IS*, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Some people like new stuff though ;)

True enough I s'ppose! ;)

Still waiting!

Yep! Must have been garbage!
-
I've been playing with a 2 channel AD30 at rehearsals recently. It's like 2 big tiny terrors stapled together. Both channels seem to be closely voiced, and i like it. A good alternative to my TT at home, which after a year i still love to bits. It quenches any amp GAS instantly with it's little orange light, 15 watts and godawesome tone.
-
hmm, another 30w 4x EL84 amp from Orange - does the world need that? (or even Orange themselves for that matter).
If it was the same amp as the TT but with a 30w output stage, it could be quite cool BUT I think it'd need to have some extra bells and whistles to make it worthwhile (more gain, tonestack, effects loop).
I can't fathom Orange's thinking on this one unless their customer feedback shows demand for a louder TT. I'm not familiar enough with Orange amps to know how the TT sounds compared to the classic Orange amps in terms of tone.
All that said though, the louder amps generally have more to them in terms of circuit design - there is something to be said for a bare-bones preamp into a louder output stage (like what people have done with the 5E3 Tweed Deluxe with the 4x 6V6 output stage)
-
Yep! Must have been garbage!
Maybe deliberate kite-flying?
-
Was thinking it should be called "The Terror"

yeah, that'd be the problem. A footswitchable boost/gain and loop would be cool though, like hunter said. though i don't think the rocker 30 has a loop?
-
12 months late, but I guess what I heard was right ;)

WOW! WOW! WOW!
I like it! Has footswitch???
-
A dual-channel with only 6 knobs!
All amps should be made this way. :D
-
us this 30w?? seems a strange one from orange to me... they must be selling more TTs than anything else.
-
I reckon they are. Very popular amp.
Dunno about the footswitch Fernando...
-
That's going to have to get a wee test run when one appears near me. Fond as I am of me VC-30, it's a pain in the hole to transport. A wee thirty watt head like that could be right up my alley.
-
I don't like the change of layout somehow.
It just doesn't seem to balance quite as well as the original.
-
FINALLY!!! YES!!!!! I'm REALLY hoping for a damn footswitch... but what would the point be without it? The TT is a gigging amp if anything, to make it easier to carry and just plug and play in a cab. No footswitch would be totally defeating the purpose surely...
-
There's a picture of the back panel here (http://forum.orangeamps.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=33104&whichpage=3), about half way down.
Smile, Pierre and Fernando.
-
Thanks! :D
-
whats the price on these
-
Nice! And a bass toaster too! Guess I gotta pickup a Jbass someday then.
I was WAY impressed by the TT combo I tried. That thing screamed something mean. If the DTT shares the same gain structure/tone there's no doubt it'd be the amp for me...
-
that's kinda cool, actually (though i wasn't all that fussed on the tiny terror when i tried it :? ), but that's a terrible name. i know why they did it (two channels, double wattage), but it just doesn't work, if you ask me.
-
Hey Twinfan any Idea how much these baby's cost??
One Idea for all of us sore losers who wish we had two channels is this. I just got The Mercury Magnetic Holy Terror Upgrade kit. Its a transformer upgrade kit For the TT. These Mercury magnetic dudes are like the bare knucle folks really good Customer service and they are supposed to have the best Trannys out there for amps. Lots of kits for smaller amps TT epi Valve Junior etc. Also big ones Rocker 30s 50s etc.
I have yet to put in the new kit yet. I will post something on it as soon as I do. One more thing is the upgrade gives a Pentode Triode switch option. Whatever that means. I rely on you guys and my tech friends to interpret such terms
Mike

Dont you wish you had more control over the tone then one switch?? Mids Highs etc??
-
Looks like no, or he would say "Who the hell had the idea of a dual-channel with ONLY 6 knobs"
-
Pity it doesn't have a loop though!
-
No idea on price guys - not seen that much info about the amp at all.
