JOE SATRIANI, of rock music’s most renowned electric guitarists, will undertake a nine date UK tour starting Monday, May 12th 2008 at Birmingham Symphony Hall. PAUL GILBERT will be special guest on all of Satriani’s UK concerts except for Nottingham Royal Centre on Wednesday, May 21st.
Tickets go on sale from 9am on Friday 16th November 2007, and can be purchased directly from the concert venues listed below, or from the National Credit Card Hotline on 0871 424 444 or www.ticketline.co.uk. Agency and credit card bookings subject to a fee.
Joe Satriani has been a worldwide guitar hero since his 1986 breakthrough album, Surfing With The Alien. Over 10-million albums and CD’s later, in addition to 13 Grammy nominations including this year for his latest studio release Super Colossal, Joe continues to push the envelope of modern rock guitar playing. Satriani is currently ranked as the 7th best electric guitar player in the world.
After releasing several critically acclaimed albums over 10 years, in 1996, Satriani and guitarist STEVE VAI, embarked on the G3 guitar showcase tour, which became an annual event. By 2000, Satriani released the electronic album Engines Of Creation which earned him a Grammy nomination. Satriani went on to release his most recent live album Satriani Live!. A new studio album is expected to be released in 2008 to coincide with the UK tour.
Paul Gilbert!!! Who's coming with me!

Missed PG earlier this year - Wouldn't miss this for the world.
-
This is going to be something I have to put on my credit card, I don't think I can handle missing Gilby again.
-
$%ING YES!

Ah, that explains the slightly cryptic text from my wife this morning! looks like we will be seeing him at bmth with any luck and a trailing wind :)
-
Damn, Gilbert played at leeds last time and hoped he'd do it again :( I guess it's off to mancaster i go.
I'll deffo be going, absolutely loved gilbert and he's a great guy to!
I'm crossing my fingers that sheenan would be playing for satriani instead of say stu hamm, but eh.

Yeah... I have an inexplicable dislike of Stu Hamm as well... I'd hope for Matt Bissonette with Satch. He was great on The Extremist tour.
Billy is my fav but he suits Vai much better than Satch.

Kilby, Dave Mc.
I hear the word is Satch at least is playing Mandela Hall, Belfast, 21st May. Tickets on sale, Friday morning coming from the usual suspects.
Unsure about Gilbert, though.
-
interesting, thanks!
any idea if gilbert will be there?
-
None at all.
Belfast seems to be going through a rare purple patch at the minute. Queens of The Stone Age and Smashing pumpkins inside the same week in February!! It's almost like living in a real city.
-
haha, true. (even though i'm not much a fan of those other two)
But i just checked, and according to satriani.com, gilbert should be at all the UK/ireland dates except nottingham. :)

Mrs Headtheball is the biggest SP fan ever, and had tickets to the Belfast gig that was cancelled after the death in Dublin, so she is, in fact, dancing round the house that this has been announced today.
The Queens is very much, my pigeon, though, although I freely admit they are no Kyuss.
And the thread hijack ends now!
