Title: Classical Posture
Post by: waves on November 18, 2007, 02:53:13 PM
Just wondering if theres anyone else out there who plays classical stance (left foot raised, guitar on left leg)?

Having the guitar on my right leg just doesn't work for me and it seems to me that the classical way seems more economical. If i play on the right leg i get strains after a while. I also find it less comfortable and i can't get around the neck as easily (my left arm gets pushed into my side when i reach for the top frets).

I'm not trying to change my ways or anything, i'm perfectly happy. Just wondered if anyone else prefers it...

I must say, he has got stuuupidly ripped/pumped recently. His arms will burst soon, i'm sure of it.

 apparently he's got proper into working out.

"Yes, I do work out. Nobody likes a girlyman! (said with an Austrian accent)"

i think he should sort his hair out and get it highlighted, short and spiked budokan style (rudess should DEFINATELY stick with the bald look, his long is awful)

I used to go to a gym after school one day a week and could lift the whole stack of weights on that machine where you're seated and you use your legs to slide your seat up a gradient. Plus any extra tuning weights I could find up to 300 reps (I think... it may be more...).
My upper body was not so great though; I had trouble with really quite small amounts of weight and didn't really improve that quickly.
I fell out of it when I pulled a tendon in my foot at a Ninjutsu session (fell on wrong side of my foot; the top half) and I haven't managed to get back into it...

I play in classical posture when playing a classical or acoustic guitar - but just posture when I play electric guitar  :D

Yeah same, it always makes my right arm ache whenever I have it on the right leg, its too squashed up. I play acoustic like that some time but on electric it has to be the classical position. Easier to get to the upper frets as well :)

With a flying V it isn't quite the same feeling, the centre of the V means legs can be more comfortable.
It took a bit of time to get used to a LP on right leg and I got the aching ribs too :?

but all in all I prefer to play normally generally. or just stand up :P

lay in bed with guitar in the same place as standing up would be as well

playing a V sitting down is very comfortable in this way indeed - its very stable, the upper wing gripped between the knees.

the grip bit on the bottom of some Vs sucks, never works sadly...

If im sitting, it'll be classical position for me too- i find it pretty hard to play my Takamine acoustic classical though because the body is pretty big.
