Title: Some nailbomb clips
Post by: littlemrwiggley on November 19, 2007, 05:20:33 AM
I just put a set of nailbombs in my 1976 explorer and the sound is incredible.  Here are a couple of solo covers I recorded real quick with my POD-XT.  While that does detract from the tone somewhat, it is the best I can do for now because my downstairs neighbour put in a few too many noise complaints about my Soldano avenger.  These are recorded in a single try, and there are some mistakes in the playing, timing could be better, etc... but I think they give a good estimation of what the nailbomb (in both bridge and neck positions) can sound like especially when playing lead material.  The backings are of variable quality as well.

Both positions sound awesome. The panning helped hear the real sound - good idea. I'm getting a nailbomb bridge and a cold sweat neck. Hope they sound like that  :)

Crazy chops! And I love how the Nailbomb sounds thick and crunchy like a mouthful of gravel

Great recordings.

nice chops fella, prefer the last clip personally, flowed a bit more and sounded a bit more 'defined' on bridge pickup...sounds weird on headphones though with that panning! :)

Very nice clips.   Gotta love that tone. These have helped me make up my mind, when I get new pickups for the RT it's gonna be Nailbombs.

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback.  I also have a Miracle man and Piledriver in my Telecaster deluxe.  Both of those pickups are truly remarkable in their own way.  The piledriver is actually a really an incredible high output telecaster pickup.  I just got the Nailbombs and in my opinion, they are a bit more versatile than Miracle Man because not only do they grind really well, but they also clean up very nicely, a bit nicer (to my ears at least) than the Miracle Man.  Although it is of note that the Miracle Man is much more sensitive to harmonic techniques such as pinch harmonics, and are therefore a better fit for Pantera and Zakk Wylde types of sounds.
