Hi guys,
I always thought the VHII would be good for Motley Crue, so I tried it out. On my myspace page I've added a Crue-style demo I've recorded for an upcoming issue of Guitar Techniques (it'll be in issue GT149)
The track is the only one I've got online at the moment, called "Louder Than Satan".
I used a Fender Mexican 50s reissue Strat (with BK VHII in the bridge), through a BOSS SD-1 into a Marshall Jubilee 25/50. The lead guitar is the same sound with a DS-1 instead of the SD-1. It was close mic'ed with an SM58 and recorded into Logic with no post processing.
EDIT: Doh! The link! http://www.myspace.com/scaramofo

Really good! Now I've changed my mind about VH pickups... I always thought it was "thin and trebly"...

Thanks a lot guys!
It probably helped that the guitar was tuned down a tone, and strung with 12-54 strings.
I love the VHII. It didn't sound quite like I was expecting, but I quickly fell in love with it. I would describe the tone as being mostly mid... There's not a shortage of highs or lows, but there's not too much either. The mid range just has this incredible sweet quality, and I just can't get enough of it. I think the name is appropriate. It can do more than just Van Halen, but like Eddie's classic tone, it just sounds incredibly musical and not at all harsh even when playing very aggressively. It's like there's just the right amount of each frequency.
It's also the only bridge pickup I've ever heard with a clean tone that I like.

the VHII is by far the best humbucking pickup i've ever encountered, it's amazing im not using one at the moment but I had one in my strat for a serious ammount of time.
I've currently got the Mules on order, we'll see how they match up..

can't stand motley crue, but excellent job of recording, and spot on tone.
