Hey guys.
After all the problems I've had as regards fitting the BKs to my Gordon Smith (Routing issues, issues as regards long leg/short leg baseplate etc) I finally have th Black Dog (bridge) and Riff Raff (neck) fitted to my Gordon Smith Graduate 60 (Handmade Les Paul clone).
Boy do they kick the ass of other pickups I've tried in this guitar :D
The Black Dog in the bridge is perfect for what I want: openness (if that's even a word?!), clarity and power when required 8) It sounds very full and, imo, doesn't have any particular bias towards any particular frequency band (Bass, Mid, Treble etc) It also splits very nicely too, which just adds to the versatility :)
The Riff Raff in the neck is also a nice sounding pickup. It shares the same openness, Clarity and Fullness but isn't in any way 'boomy' in the bass like alot of pickups I've tried.
This is only my 1st impressions of the pickup at moderate volume through my Marshall JTM60 1x12 combo. I'll be sure to post back when I've tried the guitar and BK's through my Orange head and 4x12 at gig volume at the weekend :D

I hate you and hate the fact that you got your pups before me.
I hope you fall on your guitar.
Okay, I feel much better now! :D
Clips, Brow ... where are the clips??!!!

Well done Brow-got there in the end :D
You mentioned the 'magnets' being too long to fit the cavity, I take it you mean pole screws?
We use a special Fillister 5-40 screw that we have made of soft iron-primarily for increased magnetic conductivity. All of the other manufacturers use free cutting steel which is fine and they then cut them short which kinda does the same thing. We stick to the vintage size just because that's the way they were originally made and that's the way I like it :)
Glad you got them in though and that you first impressions are good-the gig test is the true test though so keep us posted. :D

Thanx for the kind words mate :P
I'll try and drag the Orange or something to the studio when it's free and try and do some clips. Not that you'd want to hear them with my shoddy playing :D

Yeah, I did mean the polepiece screws, guess I was confused :?
If they fare aswell at the gig as they did when I just played them, all will be good and my pickup search is over (for this guitar at least :D)
I'll be sure to let you all know how they fare at my gig over the weekend.
Thanx for all the help guys :D
