for a day of pain
off to the tattooist in a mo, big job as well - turning my forearm tattoo into a full sleeve.. hope it all gets done today but i might change my mind on that in a few hours time
-
Good luck!
Must admit I've never quite seen the appeal of tattoos. They can certainly look very cool (sometimes) but I've never thought of anything that means so much to me I want it permanently scribed on my body.
I have sort-of considered some kind of Chinese dragon design, because I was born in a Year of the Dragon and the dragon's also the symbol of Wales, of course, but it'll never happen.
-
I doubt it can be done in one day. Good luck!

Well good luck to you... and take a picture once it's completed :)
And if you have a bottle of vicodin around, just pop one every half hour and you probably won't feel too bad about the pain. Heck, you might even feel good 8)
-
I always enjoyed getting my tattoos but then again I never got a full sleeve. Enjoy it mate. Look forward to seeing the pics

well not quite finished but a hell of a lot done
(http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/2-10.jpg)
and a very tired me in a wifebeater vest!!!

Obviously it needs to settle in quite a bit but i am goin back in february to have the two tattoos joined together as well as having the new one touched up, thicker outline and more shading halfway down the hair and around the bottom - i had enough for today
-
Looks well nice!
Though it looks like a lot of pain haha.
-
Nice!!! Do you know how you are going to let the two be joint?
-
it really was a lot of pain - i dont know if its because i have been out of it all week with a cold but this hurt a hell of a lot more than last time
-
Nice!!! Do you know how you are going to let the two be joint?
i think its going to be quite dark shading under the bottom 3rd of hair thats going to swirl around the lillies - we are aslo adding a couple of lillies further up
the hair right at the bottom will be allmost completely unshaded to match the lillies
-
Had a gig today, and met the singers boyfriend, he got the Avenged Sevenfold skull on his arm heh. Now thats a bit silly, but yours is rather nice
and it won't get old such as A7X shall (is that right?)
-
I had a tattoo done on my back as soon as I turned 18 (8 years ago) and I designed it myself.
And then 2 years ago i was showing someone my ink and one of the guys was like "that looks like the Avenged Sevenfold skull". I promptly put my top back on, shot him a look of pure poison and grabbed the nearest Tattoo magazine...I skipped to the back where all the tattoo removal ads are.
Someone's nicked my picture and turned it into a symbol of ridicule!!!
[Edit] Sorry Wez, nice ink dude! That was my point of posting until I saw the A7X thing, lol.

Sounds really nice, im kind of wondering about the white lilies though, did you choose them purely for ornamental value?
Ohwell im probably reflecting on this too much, ive gotten a Tatoo after suffering a personal loss when i was 19 or so. Its a celtic ankh i drawed myself, back then i thought it was quite cool, that was in the pre-gothic days though
-
mostly ornamental i am afraid, certainly no religious significance intended. having something really pointy would have looked silly on my skinny arms - like i was trying too hard.... so i decided to go arty rather than manly.
Allthough i do tell the kids at school that its one lilly for every student i have murdered.. i think they know i am joking!!
-
I fail to see why arty isnt manly but probably thats just me......
Like i said i drew my own tattoo so you bet it was arty
Maybe when you draw something yourself or even make something there is something of you at that time in there anyway, im not into semi-religious mythical kind of stuff anyway. Well i was a bit confused at when i was 19, but ive matured a bit since  (I did say A BIT!)
-

well yeah, of course - but i am well aware not everyone sees it that way. my favorite quote came from one of my students who said " why have you got flowers, thats gay aint it.. you should have had a bulldog!!"
I really like some of the polynesian tribal stuff but i aint from a polynesian tribe!!
i drew the bottom half of this tattoo, i did draw something for the top as well but the tattooists idea was much better so we went with that.
i have the advantage of waiting till i was 27 before even getting a tattoo so i hopefully know myself a bit better and i felt confident starting pretty big!!!

more pics from more angles. its shiny because its soaking in nappy cream to stop scabbing

Yeah big is good, mine was too small and the lines faded(especially where there is shading) into a blurr a bit by now, shame really. But since its only there to remind me of some things i would easily forget otherwise its fine. I really would be very uncomfortable if someone made some stupid remark about it. I am known for returning any favor granted, somehow me being a generous chap isnt allways appreciated in these situations  .
EDIT: After reading this again id like to add i meant with the last part that i would gladly return the stupid remark offcourse. Not that anyone thinks i hit people or anything. Just want to be clear on that....
-
Solid! :D
Nice work there, it all looks good. I really like the look of the girl, she's quite hot 8)
So when you gig, you gonna wear a sleeve-less t-shirt so everyone can see your strumming arm?
-
not really an issue there - i dont gig, infact i can hardly play anymore
-
I just checked out the sites in your sig and realized why you don't play much anymore, hehe.
You spend most of your time constructing those things you WISH you could play, doncha? If that's not a hellish tease, I dunno what is... :?
-
you got it... always good to see others playing them though. and i still noodle around occasionaly
-
finally got the shading finished on my arm lastw eek as well as having a bit more work done around the middle to connect the two halfs. still a bit scabby in the middle but here is where we are now
(http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/done.jpg)
now i have to think about the next one.. i actually want something guitar related but not cheesy. i am tempted to work my logo into somehow.. anyway - after ideas... my original thought was a series of decreasing blocks going up my other arm as a fretboard but the tattoist isnt happy that it will stay looking good for long if we do it how i want... or i am considering exploded diagrams/technical drawings of certain parts of a guitar
-
Looks great!
Get your headstock inlay on your back :D
-
That looks so good... really nice mate.

thats a nice tatt Wez, looks very 3D.
i'm too much of a pussy for tattoos.
How about for more tattoos you get some music inspired ones like Chris George on the Marshall promo CD....

-
Nice tattoo! 8)
-
Ahh, i've been surrounded by tattoo talk all day!
I really want one now, just a simple one, like a band going around my arm, just before the wrist... maybe something a bit tribal/celtic.
I'm not too keen on big tatt's but these are great, im more into subtle stuff.
-
i still keep thinking of my proposed ace of spades 'born to lose - live to win' tatoo for years, but haven't been brave enough to go for it yet.
-
cheers guys, very happy with how this one came together in the end.
i considered having my headstock but the main problem is my headstock changes everytime i make a guitar. I did a different version (6 in line) for the Veteran recently and i have also been redesigning my usual 3 a side for a more symmetrical option that will suit certain guitars better.

seems a bit daft to tattoo a design i keep changing
ps. for the SG we decided on the bottom one - had it been a more modern shape i may have been tempted to go with the middle one
-
Very nice trio!
Your logo doesn't change though does it?
-
hopefully the logo will change a lot less now that i have some laser cut ones. when i was hand cutting them it changed quite a lot with every guitar. the logo is definately more of a possibility and may be incorporated into a design - but probably wont be the whole design
