Title: Slowhand vs Irish Tour Neck
Post by: Afghan Dave on August 10, 2005, 06:34:53 PM
Before I buy I'd love to know what you think would balance best in the neck with my Uber sinner bridge.

I want it to drive hard and dark and I think the Slowhand sounds just right

Nobody raves about them the way they do about the Irish Tours. Why?

To try(???) and describe what I'm looking for: strong as possible with a dark character and some quack. I do want to keep a little quack...

I owned an IT set, and I would not say that the IT neck was dark. Some thickness to it, but not "dark".

The Slowhand set does have a dark mid range ala Clapton.I voiced it deliberateley like that..........The Irish Tour has the smoother American voiced mid whereas the Slow Hand set has the darker British mid range.
They're a great sounding set although it's always the Irish Tour set that gets the glory, probably down to the popularity of Gallagher and SRV's driving Strat tone.

OK, I'm getting the idea... Thanks for the info.

I'm going for the slowhand I think - 98% certain.

I do love 'em hot though, Clapton with the active mid boost...
