I thought I'll not gonna touch the Edwards as I found it perfect at first, but I was fed up by the Duncan, so took the Rebel out of the Axis and screwed it into the LP - ops, wrong width due to the Floyd, but well ...
Sounds awesome, now I gotta seee what I put in the neck ... that '59 is too dull/woofy for my tastes.
Here are two examples of the RY bridge ...
-
Just keep the Budda clips coming.
Sounds amazing, I really enjoyed the slide one :D
-
Love that song! Yeaaaaaaaaaah!
Great sound man. All this continued Edwards love is really tempting me.
-
damnit - gorgeous as ever. make a bad clip - damnit.
-
Did it originally have the JB in it? (sorry, I am useless with SD code)
Wondering how the two compare, as didn't Steve Stevens use a JB before?
Your clips are too goood!
-
Heija all, thanks for the positive feedback, that's very kind from you!
However, you guys have no idea how much better it sounds (and feels) in real, especially when you crank that little mxxxxfxxer up :P
Re the JB question, no, the JP ones come with an SH-5, which is a ceramic custom custom. It's not bad, but it doesn't clean up or bring useable tones when you wanna turn down the vol on the guitar to get rhythm, AND it's lacking body.
Not sure yet if the RY is the perfect match for the Edwards, I am also thinking about a BD or Mule bridge with a Mule or VHII neck, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm being super-pedantic, but the SH-5 is the Duncan Custom. The Custom Custom is the SH-11, the same pickup but with an AII magnet.
Looking forward to hearing these clips, but I'm stuck in work so I'll have to wait. :(

ops, I thought something was wrong there, thanks Philly 8)
Aha browsing BKP during work, nanana, don't let yourself get caught Philly ! :P

Well, I'm here in a nearly-empty office on my own time, so there's not much they can do about it. If I had sound I'd listen to your clips now! Mind you, there are loads of sites they block access to, so I'm lucky I can still look at BKP.
Ever thought about Crawlers for your Edwards LP, Christoph? That's what I'm putting in mine - can't tell you what they sound like yet, haven't had time to fit them...
-
Hunter, you always have nice clips...
It's sad that you sold the Tiny Terror, I would like to hear the RY in it (I'm going to buy one TT someday, and think about RY too)
BUT stop giving me GAS!!
-
Very nice clips Hunter.
That RY sound is excellent .... If I'd heard that earlier I may have fitted RY's in my LP, instead of Emeralds :)
-
Awesome as always hunter. Not sure if I trust your clips any more, because you always have a great tone whatever you use  I'll be putting my Rebel Yell back in my strat in a few weeks when I go home, will be sure to post clips if it sounds good as I remember!
-
+1, lovely as always.
Hunter, which neck pickup do you have on mind? Probably a MQ will fit the bill for you.

Come on, _tom_, we are all GASing for GH50Ls and Mules big time since you pollute our innocent minds with your badass clips here, don't you start accusing me to being bad for people's bank accounts

Not sure at all yet. At the moment I just installed the neck of my RY set as well and it sounds gorgeus. But I am a bit anal about details and at the moment both pickups have wrong spacing and are reverse Zebra, but I'd like that polepiece to be under my e string and the looks of the Page LP restored.
I am really after a dirty and cutting bridge pickup and a clean and very open sounding neck pickup.
Philly said Crawlers, hmm, they might be too hot for my tastes. But maybe Mule/MQ would be too weak?
Well I'm gonna play a while like this and see what clips and experiences are coming up.

Keep playing with the Rebel Yell bridge pickup
-
AWSOME!!!!!!!!!
But if you can just do me the littlest of favour, PLEASE let it sound like your actually trying really hard a bit more, it pretty much makes my hard work seem pointless
-
I think I need a Les Paul to put some RY's in. Man those things rawk!
-
Rebel Yells definately sound awesome in Les Pauls.
-

Now listen to his VHII and Black Dog clips - then you'll really be in two minds (or three, or four).

I don't think they're significantly hotter than the RY's - just a little "looser", with less emphasis on the treble/upper mids. At least, that's what I'm imagining - I'll find out soon.

+1, you're definately right on that point. I think you'll find out the RY has more upper mids and less bass, while the Crawlers have less upper mids and a more 'darker' tone. The Crawlers seems like a hotter wound version of the Black Dog with emphasis on the lower mids.

Finally listened to the clips. Bloody hell, Hunter, how do you keep doing it? Never mind BKPs, you could put some shitety Korean pickups in there and still sound great.
"In My Time Of Dying" is my absolute favourite Zeppelin riff - probably my favourite riff, full stop. You got really close to that spooky JP slide tone!
Is that the Brutal Beats drums again, by the way?
-
It's all in the amps guys, the pickups are the BKP icing on the cake ;)
Top clips again though Hunter, as always. :)
-
nice clips! :P
-
Haha, thanks for all, this is some lovely feedback.
I think it's a bit of all really, the amps, the cab/speakers, guitar, cable, pickups and being lucky to find the right combination of settings and mic position ... ah and the attitude of the player for sure :o)
Philly to be fair, I had some pretty decent Korean pickups in my PRS SE when it came stock, but they weren't even close to the VHIIs I put in after. I think the impact of BKPs on the end result is huge!
Guess crawlers are not for me, I'm really after bite in a bridge pickup, it's gotta drive the top end of my amp and be rather tight in the bottom. However I do love the Black Dogs and they are a bit darker ...
Looking forward to feedback about your crawler, and yes, it was a loop from the BrutalBeatz compilation.

I'd love to know how that sounds...my Edwards is in customs (woohoo!) , and I will be changing out the pickups at some point, so may swap the Crawler out of the Strat, and put something new in there...
Hunter - Great clips fella, and great to hear your Edwards in action :)
