Hello all,

what PAF model are the pickups? it needs to be in the thread title or it'll be deleted

When I called Tim I told him what OHM readings I wanted and he made them to that spec 7.5ish and 8 I think?
They are a bit hotter than Mules I think?

Very nice sounds! If the pups are Alnico IV, those are Mule-ish specs indeed.

I have a 7,4 neck and 8,3 bridge Mule AIV(standard) set, so you should have a little underwound bridge Mule. I dont think i can hear your sound good enough on my speakers to notice any significant difference, well exept for that you play alot better then me that is.
Did you also have them unpotted?

I did have them open coils..then had them wax dipped..and then took covers off.. You know what its like!!
Got the covers off at the mo, they look great

The wax dipping is standard if you get the mules unpotted and covered, i have mine covered in raw nickel.
After relistening the clip with the bridge mule still covered i think mine has a bit more punch in the mids but hardly noticable. You can check the DC on the guarantee slip you got with the mules.
Was the BB in the clip the 18w 1x12 reissue? I have the '90s BB reissue 2x12, still with the stock 6L6 in them, i did change the preamp tubes to Teslas(Ruby Tube), the stock Ei (Philips type) were not as versatile IMO. allthough still faily comparable.

Was the BB in the clip the 18w 1x12 reissue? I have the '90s BB reissue 2x12, still with the stock 6L6 in them, i did change the preamp tubes to Teslas(Ruby Tube), the stock Ei (Philips type) were not as versatile IMO. allthough still faily comparable.
My BB was the 28watt version (the normal 1962 Bluesbreaker) 2x12..same as your 90s version but a bit wider becasue from 2004 Marshall made the cabs to proper dimensions so you can fit in KT66 vales in it.

The 90s RI did have the later cosmetics yes, i just consider the quality of the amp as it is though, ive heard a real 60's BB in RL and they sound really different anyway. My BB RI also was an early sample(mine is a '90 one), but i bought it used so i dont know if it had any issues. I do know the previous owner was really fussy about his amps so probably checked it thoroughly when he bought it. Maybe the best roadgear is the stuff that has worked hard for many years anyway thinking about it.
I have my Mules in a '76 Gibson custom, it has a maple neck with volute. This guitar makes them sound quite bright though, prilliant on the neck Mule but a bit too fusion like on the bridge if put trough my BB. When i compare my BB to yours, mine sounds more like your twin by the way, but at a higher volume the preamp and greenbacks come alive and then its totally different again, very nice noodleing stuff. :wink:
That CS '59 standard is just wonderfull! Love that top, the one i tried had a bit 'overdone' top which looked rather plastic, certainly not vintage IMO. Yours looks like it was just beamed up from 1959!

I searched the whole site yesterday for some pictures from Les Pauls and the first, most beautiful Les Paul I found was this one!!
What a beautiful Les Paul Custom do you have there, the only Les Paul that can make me really jealous (and I'm totally not a jealous guy for having 3 Les Pauls myself, including a rare 88' Silverburst LP Standard).
I would sell my all my Les Pauls (3 in total) for getting that 'White Beauty'

Thank you for the compliment, but its just a natural fininsh custom which i happen to get on a picture quite nicely :wink:
Now with the mules it sounds as clear and transparent just like it is finished, i like setting up my guitars with their own character, sounds rediculous but thats what you get from being a gibson freak.

It doesn't sound rediculous to me! You are doing a fine job and it's always good to hear from people being a real Gibson 'freak'.
Gibsons are the finest guitars on the whole planet, period. That naturel finish just looks lovely and I bet it came alive with the Mules :wink:
I also like to have different Les Pauls with different characters...each guitar must be unique though.

It did that for sure, even the stock pickups sounded too harsh in that guitar but the mules have a way of getting the best out of every guitar, i cant imagine any other pickup generating such a clear tone without getting harsh to some degree, the AIV Mules just do that, and more.
