OK, another question regarding my pickguard refit.
Any opinions as to what gauge wire I should be using to earth the pots to the body and the jack etc?
I've read on line that anything from 22 to 26 gauge is OK. But the guy suggesting that also said that people should be shot for using a soldering iron near pickups as they can get de-magnitised (I'm paraphrasing, but that was the general idea...), and I've never heard of that. But then I'm a technical novice, given that I've only been playing for 20 years...
Cheers.

thats fine and dandy but if you want to use the pickups then you do need to attach them and 99.9999% of guitars in the world have the pickups soldered to the pot/switch. they also have multiple solder connecting inside to connect the coil wires to the lead wires
the chances of you over heating a lead wire to the stage where it reaches the magnet for that to work are very slim.
more likely to burn out a pot that have any affect on the magnet.
or maybe i am wrong and i need to start cooking my pickups to age them in a bit (please dont anyone take that seriously!!!)
I use 22 but bear in mind thats 22AWG (american wire gauge) - if buying from britsih suppliers it might be the other standard of measurement that escapes me at the moment.
TBH - cant really go wrong
