Couldn't help but notice alot of the guys on the boards getting together for meets which is a fantastic idea.
The London Guitar Show is going to be a huge event next year, it's a 4 dayer- June 12/13/14/15 at Excel/Docklands.
How about we organize an official BKP meet? It's far enough in the future to be able to sort out something decent and whilst we endeavor to meet/talk to everyone during the show it'd be nice to hook up with all the forum members and put faces to names outside of the chaos of the guitar show(which as those of you who've attended will know is pretty damn noisy!).
Let me know if you think it's a good idea and I'll start kicking some ideas around.
-
:D Sounds good to me. How about an official BK curry night or some such ? again just a thought. Hopefully this year i wont be in hospital & miss the whole damn thing ! :P
:D 8)
-
Sounds like a great idea :) Count me in.
How about we each bring a BKP-equipped guitar as entry to the meet? That way we can try out each other's axes? Especially those with non-standard selections that work well?
I guess someone needs to provide amps though.....
-
we could hire a biig rehersal studio.. shouldn't be much between all of us.
curry also sounds good
anyway - i have my fingers crossed for a meet on the 20th of this very month :)
-
Count me in!
-
well i will be coming - thx for the dates i can sort that out now. We should aim to do something on the saturday i reckon
I will be bringing at least one guitar... maybe more - depends what i have around at the time

Thats a good idea!
I'll be at the show even though we are taking a break from exhibiting.
Since Chris' death I decided that needed a year off from doing the show as doing the prep all by myself would probably be too much overload - especially when I have a lot of custom axes to get finished for guys too!
-
I'd be up for that... sounds like it would be interesting and good to put some faces to names for a noob like me :)
-
i shall start saving immediately! well, in a few weeks, there's some festival thing at the end of December, can't remember what it's called...
-
time to book some time off me thinks,...see you lot there!
-
Great idea!
Why isn't this thread a sticky??
-
So in.
Sticky! Cos its still a ways off. Dont wanna lose the thread in the mean time.
-
damn... this is not good. i was hoping it'd be in the 1st week of may... this puts a damper on available time off from work... suxx.
i dont think i'll be able to come
-
I'll see if I can blag a Megabus down from Glasgow and possibly crash at my mate's i Stevenage... A plan comes together!
-
I hate exams :( I mean, why do they always have to be on the days and weeks you don't want
-
I'm up for this. Good idea. :)
-
I would love to meet up with some of the forumites, and Eurostar only takes 2h from Brussels now, so why not? Wanted to visit LGS anyway one day...
Couldn't we do some kind of playing/drinking/talking thingy? I mean like having a session duo bass/drums who know most classic rock songs then all forumites can present their tones live all on the same amp setting or sth?
-
I'll be there - I think a get together with some food, drink and instruments sounds great.

Well, doesnt 38th play bass, and I'm sure theres some people who can play drums here? I can do the basic stuff if its needed though I havent for ages so thats probably not such a good idea
-
Hmmm, yep I think I would like to do this and sure I'd play bass but Carlaz also plays bass and if he is back in UK maybe he and I could share bass duties. I would like to join my six (and seven) stringed friends though but I am an old git and am not familiar with these death metal type chappies though I am sure they are nice boys at heart and are good to their Mums.As always with me it is gigs permitting.I have one booked for 14th June though.
-
Sounds likea good idea. If we don't get in a studio, even a night in a pub would still be a great thing to do. :D
-
When Seymour Duncan was in the UK a few years ago they organised a seminar/jam in a hotel in Birmingham for Forum Members.
It was a great night and went very well, so I'm sure we could do something great too :)
Count me in aslong as I remember to book time off work, and can find people to share a hotel with
-
I'll be stopping over somewhere Brow, so I'll have a beer with you ;)
-

Sounds good mate :D
If Ben and Phil are here for the full 4 days of the show, could make a 4-day bender out of it
-
Sounds like this is going to have legs so I'll make some inquiries and see if there's somewhere we can all meet up.
-
Top stuff!
-
anyone recommend any hotels near the event, cheap and cheerfull is best. looks like me and my cousin nath will be coming down saturday and stopping over
-
There's a travelodge about 500m away from Excel. A lot of people were staying there last year.
-
probably be perfect then. cheers phil

Theres 4 or 5 travellodges within a mile or so of the Excel centre (and another one being built as I remember), plus a couple over at Beckton which is only a couple of DLR stops (or 20 minutes the N50 night bus)
-
although a newcomer to the forum it would be great to meet likeminded others.

Hehe ... I don't know why, but that sounded to me like a ravenous alien trying to sound like a human.
"Though I am new to this planet, I mean country! I would love to eat -- meet! meet! -- fellow likeminded humans, like me ... because I'm a human. Not an alien. Nope, no aliens here. Just us humans!" PDT_008

Small world man, I was based in North Woolwich for 3 years.
As I remember theres a travel lodge, across the road from the Asda (and just up from the DLR station)
-
I'm in.
Really enjoyed myself at LGS this year, but the one thing I didn't manage was to say Hi to Tim - every time I passed the BKP stand it was packed (which is a good thing) & he was busy.

That's a shame; yes, the booth was INSANELY packed ...

... but I know for a fact that Tim really enjoys meeting the forum users.

I think me and the missus will be there, time, money, life permitting!
I'll have to get myself a BKP t-shirt for the LGS, gotta fly the flag! (Sue has one already that I steal :) )
-
If I'm in the country this might be fun.
-
I'd love to go, but probably aren't a popular enough poster here, or may have exams. But if I'm welcome, I'll try, especially if its on one of the guitarshow days :D
-
I'd love to go, but probably aren't a popular enough poster here,
dont be daft!!
-
I live quite close (Blackheath/Lewisham), I guess I can come if I'm not working or travelling.
-

Then I'm in, even if its just to meet the few I talk to more often than others, everyone on here seems to be quality :D
-
:D All forum buddies are welcome regardless of how frequently or infrequentley they post. It would just be good to see people. :D

Nah, I'm a right 'orrible barsteward
I'll see if I can make it. Could drop the wife at Crouch End so she can get drunk/go shopping/get more drunk with her cousin. I'm sure she wouldn't really like the guitar show but she sure likes drinking and shopping.

So what day is the plan then sorry, if I have missed the obvious?
-
i reckon saturday
-
In that case, I'll try and get my mate or someone to come with me, and have an awesome weekend off school, anjoying the guitar show :D
Hopefully its not around exams though!
-
12th to 15th of june.... so after most a levels but possibly smack bang in the middle of GCSE's, not sure how they fall this year
-
12th June is my birthday!! but it is also download festival!!.. well the days leading up to it when you go find your spot and lay about before the festival starts.
-

Sweet, I'd have got my AS's out the way then. Any word on ticket pricing?
And this will depend if my mate can get us backstage passes for Download :D
-
If I lived closer, I'd be there :)
-

Hey, Dean -- where you been, bro??
-

Hmm - wonder how that clash of dates will affect turnout for the show if at all
-
Should I come by car and bring Shiva and Budda with me?
-
I live in east/central london... Just to repeat an earlier offer of being willing to accomodate an out of town BKP forum superstar of somekind.
-
Perfect it's about a week after my GCSE's!
-
Will be there too on saturday ... would be great to meet the forum crew :)
Rockin'
-
Hi,
Klone and I want to be there but need to know this is going to happen, also Klone will be 15 so hopefully, the meet will be at a venue he can access.
J
Still not a guitar player, but I can now play g major and d minor. LOL another chord and I could be status Quo.
-
I'll be there on the Saturday for sure. :D

Judging by the huge line of kids queueing to meet Matt Heafy (Trivium) on the Dean stand last year, quite a bit :)
-
But surely then wouldn't the big acts just be playing Donwload, rather than turning up at LGS?

Correction: another chord and you could be status quo in two keys.
:)
Now I'm working in London, this might be a possibility for me, too.

Not sure about this year. Maybe if I can blag it but not too sure.
I spent most of Sunday last year lurking on the Blackmachine/Diezel stall. All the exhibitors seemed pretty fried by the last day!
-
Definatley gonna be there for sure :D
-
:D I`m afraid that due to my illness i wont be able to attend at all. hope everybody has a good time.
:D 8)

i think we need some confirmation on what stands are going to be there.. I was really looking forward to coming down and meeting a lot of the other small builders and traders.... seems unlikely thats going to happen because of the changes they have made.
so my 'definately going to be there' is now a 'will be there if BKP are there - but i fully understand if they decide the show just isnt worth their effort'
so onto plans for a BKP meet - should we still try and do one somewhere else? or is that just risking a ribbing from TO
i did have 3 other members come my way over the weekend... does that count!!
-
Thanks Jt =].
Is there any conformation on who is deifnatley gonna be there?
-
There are lots of empty stands on the floor plans still! The big problems there seem to be so far are:
It clashes with Download
It is expensive (extra money to see Satriani)
You can't buy anything on the stands
It is in the peak travel season, so airfares are a lot more
No retailers have stands because of the new show status
It is big, so a one day ticket means that people will not have as much time at each stand (unless you just want to see guitars and nothing else)
Thursday is Trade Only [/list:u]
I am still waiting to see who will be there, but many of the faces I know are not having stands this year.
-
I love how Cricket ties in perfectly.
Is their an age limit to entering on ones self? Not deliberatley trying to be stupid but I thought there might be a no under-16's thing?
-
i just realised it would be somewhat ironic if the BKP chapter London meet was cancelled because Tim himself didn't attend. :)

Meh.
BKP link-up in NYC next week!!

Just an update on this...............it's looking extremely unlikely we're going to be attending this years LIMs.One of the main reasons is the organizers have seen it in their wisdom not to allow any selling of products from the stands-basically you can look but not buy on the day, only place an order. I don't entirely understand how they think we're to cover the exhibition costs without being able to sell anything.
If the situation changes I will of course notify you all.
Apologies for the lateness in this announcement but it's been an ongoing issue between ourselves and the organizers.
-
It doesn't make sense to me really:
They should have kept it in April.
They should allow selling on the floor.
They should keep it seperate from drum show (more money for them after all).

Having been speaking to Tim it seems very unlikely that BKP will have a stand at the show - I will let Tim officially confirm this.
My thoughts on it are detailed both somewhere on this forum
http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12301&highlight=mia
and also on my own website
http://www.felineguitars.com/about/news.htm
Dont know how many other smaller exhibitors feel kind of the same....
-
Going download - Sorry guys =(
-
not worth the effort and my lift has decided the same and made other plans.... maybe next year if they change the rules back
-
Going download - Sorry guys =(
Same, so excited :D
