Title: Zinc plated steel base
Post by: Machek on December 08, 2007, 03:37:32 PM
hi guys

I'm planning on buying a set of apaches for my strat, you know... christmas stuff...
And i wasn't aware of this option, this zinc plated steel base. Anyway can you tell me a bit more about this, how does this affect the tone?

As for my strat (alder body, one piece maple neck), i'm looking for some Glimouresque (meddle, dsotm) tones from the bridge pup and a hendrix vibes from the neck, should i get a zinc plated steel base in the bridge? and the neck? or both?

cheers

My Strat pickups had the bassplate, and according to Tim it adds bass without sacrificing highs. So excellent for the bridge position, really thickens it up. Can be done in all positions, I only have experience of the bridge I'm afraid. Recommend it.

Anything that makes a Strat bridge pickup sound more like a Tele bridge pickup is a good thing.  Go for it.
