I have a squire strat which was my first electric guitar all those years ago and i've recently decided that as it will always stay in the collection for its sentimental value i may aswell upgrade it and make it more playable, just as a project for something to work on really.
Can anyone recommend a decent strat style bridge that will fit straight in without modification or im a gonna have to do some drilling? same with the tuners actually.
Cheers

What thickness is the body ?
Important question as some Squiers had a thinner body that wont take a regular trem.....

feline, sorry for the late reply, i'll take a look and let you know, thanks in advance!

If it's the Squier Bullet Strat, then it's thin. REAL thin. I have that guitar (plywood baby, yea!) and it can't be more than 2 inches thick. If that.

Ehh, hmm. I never really managed to wrap my mind around the empirical system.
Ahh... once I get home from work, I'll measure it. Just for kicks... cuz I doubt anyone would be silly enough to buy a Bullet Strat... unless the intended to throw it around a stage like me :P
I tell ya - that plywood is sturdy stuff!

standard strat thickness is around 1 3/4" or 44.5mm for you metric only folk. Honestly... cant hang around guitars without talking in inches. thats the way them yanks made em!!!
A fender is 1 3/4" because leo used 2" wood stock for his bodies and by the time its been planed it pretty much comes to 1 3/4"
Tbh you have to be able to use both with guitars. try meauring frets in inches!!!

True, true ;)
I just measured with some ruler I found lying about;
Squier Bullet Strat - BARELY reaches 1.5 inches
90's Les Paul Studio - just about 1.76 inches.
There ya go 8)
And now for my penis...
*2 minutes later*
Never mind

It took you 2 minutes to measure though, so some credit must be due.

I re-measured 10 times, very carefully, to be sure
I think I may have hijacked this thread with my crotch...
Back to guitar thicknessesses.
