Title: Controlling a rig with Guitar Pro...
Post by: Oli on December 10, 2007, 11:52:35 PM
I'm sure a number of you guys use Guitar Pro, and i've often wished that i didn't have to fiddle about changing amps/effects (mostly through pure laziness), whilst i'm trying to learn a song in front of the computer... so i've solved the problem by having GP change all the patches in my rig (MIDI enabled, but you could have a simple interface to do a regular amp).

I've written a brief article (http://oli.doom-metal.com/midipipe/) on how to do it, and although it's fairly niche by being Mac-specific, the principles behind it are the same, and i'm sure there must be a Windows equivalent of the MidiPipe utility.

Hopefully it is of interest to some, even if it just promotes thought on a similar train :) This leaves the door wide open for things like sequencing in other programs, like Logic or Cubase, which may trigger an idea that you'd like to explore.

(i thought it best suited this forum because although its techy, it's to do with amps and effects :))

I'm not quite sure what you mean there, but i'm no academic!

I've just uploaded a YouTube vid of it in action: http://www.youtube.com/v/RSc3aJ3fhKg

Excuse the rubbish audio quality- MIDI played back through laptop speakers then picked up by digicam mic then processed in YouTube doesn't lend itself to high quality sounds :p

More than love.

Gotta absolutely adore them.

And if you don't - You're doing the world severe injustice.

New album should be ready soon! :D :D :D
