why are "The Mules" called this way?
couldn't find an old thread with this info.
-
I really don't know!
Anyone ... ?
-
I think i remeber reading somewhere it's because of the Gov't Mules band... Warren Haydes stuff...
-
I always thought it was "The Mule" by Deep Purple. But naming it after ol' Warren would make more sense.
-
I thought it too when I first read it, but ain't Deep Purple "The Mule" a vast drum solo?
-
It's either the Warren Hayes link, or because they're a work horse/do everything pickup????
-
Its "government mule"
-
Tim should do a thread on why all the pickups are called what they are
Not like he's busy or anything, haha!
-
There have been topics explaining the names of the pickups.
-
Gov't Mule.
Dont let that put you off though, as I know you're into metal. Mules will do metal fine so long as you have a decent amp, maybe a booster (depending how tight you like your tone) and dont pick like a pussy :P

My thoughts originally was the second of your choices.
