Title: Have some BKP for christmas
Post by: Machek on December 19, 2007, 02:41:53 AM
Hi you guys

My set of Apache is on his way, how cool will this be under a christmas tree?!
Anyway they're for my beloved MIM surf green strat, alder body, one piece V shaped maple neck... i can't wait, they should be great.

After a set of crawlers in my LP, Apaches in my strat -and after that some Cold sweat for my N2  - i guess one could say i stick to the classics, but hey, if they work....

So, any of you guys also ordered something from Tim to Santa?  :D

I'm getting a Cold Sweat and a Warpig.
But it's for my birthday (23rd) than Christmas, but pretty much the same thing to be honest.

BKP prototype humbucker for me :D

I bought myself a sinner, does that count?

INSANE pickup, btw. Easily as much gain on tap as a c-pig, pig and my 23k miracle man. Huge, hammering low end (attributable in part to the zinc steel base plate, or bass plate, perhaps?).

Still sounds like a single coil, though!

I love it.

Are we talking something similar to a pickup used by a certain Mr J L Williams, perhaps based on a Duncan Allan Holdsworth pickup?

I want to pimp out a Strat with 2 Trilogies and a Sinner. Make it look classic, but melt faces at 100 yards.

Hell yes!

I just kitted out a cheap westfield strat copy with the sinner (other BKs to follow, probably) for exactly that purpose: innocuous looking, natural finish 3 single coil guitar that will rip the back of your head off

I call it the Deathocaster.

Vintage white, red tortoiseshell pickguard, white knobs and pickups: dead audience. ROCK.

Not celebrating Christmas is great. I can get to spend money on myself instead :D
Ordering a 7-string Abraxas in January (I heard they are drowning in orders now so I'll wait a bit)

I don't celebrate it either.  I endure it.  :(

Aww.  :( Lots of sad faces in this thread.

Yeah, I've thought Christmas sucked for the past 5 years or so, like you, I endured it. I'm glad to not be part of it anymore. I give presents to my younger sisters, just so they don't miss out on anything, but it really allieviates a lot of stress to not have to buy something for 15-odd family members. I'm terrible at buying gifts, too.

Possibly  :P. I blame gingataff!! He had one in his superstrat and I had a gas overload.

With screw polepieces in both coils?  I always liked that look.

Hey I'm interested by that prototype!
What are its specs?

I had heard that the Holdsworth was a double screw version of a JB.
Before Steve Stevens got RY, I think he was a user of JB's I think, so I would guess the sound would be similar

yeah, essentially it is.  The JB is certainly the closest match to the holdsworth anyway.  But lets not worry about those lowly Seymour Duncan's.

I will be speaking to tim about the holdsworth prototype some time after xmas.  I might even get a couple of them, i was trying to decide between a rebel yell and a cold sweat for my single pickup explorer anyway.

My growing shopping list is something like this:

Calibrated set Nailbombs - camo covered
Holdsworth prototype bridge pickup
Somethign for my explorer project (cold sweat/another Holdsworth/???)

not to mention the nice one off set of nickel covered dog ear P-90's i have here at the moment.

Looking forward to the first few months of nect year when i can get all these guitars finished and try out the pickups!!!

can i play right handed???  thats questionable  .  Hopefully i can pick out a few notes and strum a few chords well enough to see if its a pickup i want on more of my guitars.

not doing too bad on guitar hero III so i guess i really can play guitar :P

Ah, its been over a week and still havemt got it in

My dad took one look in side and laughed at the birds nest of wires coming off the push-pull pot for the split coil....damn, i dont even really use the split that much and now i gotta take it to a shop to get it installed.

Hope i can get it back before i go back to uni!

i was reading somewhere that ceramic warpigs "should" be about 18K. Mine is 21.3. is that high for bridge ceramic warpig?

I have a double screw Nailbomb.  It adds more bass to the sound.  I used to have a couple of SD Holdsworth's and got this to replace them.  It has double white (really white - not cream) coils. Currently it is not in a guitar, but I was thinking of putting it into my Warmoth Mockingbird clone as it is quite a bright guitar.
