Yeah, 19 years ago I took the first ever GCSE Geography.  Got a C.

I suspect I won't be of any help to you :) but feel free to ask me something anyway...

I presume its coursework time right?
don't worry, I got a U in the coursework, did one of the exams in June, and the other one was after Download 06, so I just slept through it...
After that I got a D, so if you can manage a D in coursework.... you're set

Oh god, +1.

But if it's coursework time, don't worry, It's only worth 10% of the mark, so the difference between a C and an A* (in your overall grade) is only 5%: about the same as 7 marks in your exam.

I got a D in coursework, but still managed an overall A in my mocks.

On the other hand, I was half a mark from a star

So er... I have no idea whether you should worry about it. If you are A* material an excellent exam result will easily take you into an A*, even with shite coursework. Don't panic unless you're borderline C/D and you need it to push you over the grade boundary.

Since when has history been more interesting than ANYTHING?!

Geography GCSE is like 30 times more interesting than History.

Since I got a geography teacher who is a simpleton, and a History teacher who seems to have a beer-based tale for every nation in the eastern bloc.

Should've done IT at GCSE. Our teacher basically did most of the work for us, whilst we sat around playing games for most of the lessons then typed up some notes at the end, still managed to get 2 A's out of it

You kids have it easy, the Scottish high school system doesn't have much coursework at all. You do some for English, like a portfolio, and that's it. Everything else is down to an exam.

Pah, try saying that when you have your Uni finals in a months time. I'm screwed. Can't seem to stop playing my guitars...

I'd like to be of help but I got an E in GCSE Geography - bored the arse off me.  History was much better.

Didn't help that I went to the worst school in history.  Most of my class-mates were left to run riot and playing Blackjack at the back of class was the norm (sigh).

It took me an extra year at college to get back on a level footing.  The standard between my school teachers and college lecturers was just a world appart.  No wonder my school's results were SO bad they closed it down.

i would have liked that much more. I hated coursework. it brings the also-rans up who are too stupid to pass the exams. ditto modules.

hahahaha exactly! :) also the fact that you're almost encouraged to cheat (especially now with the ubiquity of the internet), it's worthless.

Ok, well let's see here...

C (coursework) + E (exam) = T (total)

So if C = U when T = C.... E = ....... complete obliteration of the exam by Will?
