I walked into the pawn shop today, to have a look-see thought nothing would interest me.
Smack Bam right there. was a blue RG series, H-S-H, not sure about anything else. BUT I WANT IT!
But the angel on my shoulder says no.. I looked behind the neck and it said Japan on it, etc. etc.
Has a chip on the edge, but I don't like blue, so I'm gonna change that with some wood filler and some paint.
So the verdict is up to you guys - YES! or no... lol
-
Yes!!!!!
-
Definitely.
I played one in a second hand music shop in Plymouth years ago, and didn't buy it. Went on to spend my money on a new Charvel. But the RG was FAR more playable - and the Charvel plays really, really well.
(Although how many guitarist on a forum are likely to tell you NOT to buy the guitar???)
Mark.

Yes!
-
You'd be a fool not to.
-
Yes, Yes, YES!!!
-
Well duh..............YES!!!!!
-
...no
If you don't know what it is then there's a good chance that it costs less new, or at least not much more. Although the MIJ badge is ALWAYS a good sign...
-
Plus it's got an OFR, I'm going into town today. And see if I can buy it.

That settles it imo.
Check for neck brakes etc - This seems a little too good?
-
My immediate instinct was "Yes". If it has an OFR and an MiJ stamp/sticker it's likely to be an upgraded early RG470, and since the major claimed downside of the 4xx-series RGs was always the inferior trem, an OFR should cure that nicely.
-
The only crack is the chip in the back and apart from that and dust in the pickup cavities everything seems OK.
I just need to figure out how to remove the FLOYD ROSE so I can re-paint it. It's not really like a standard Strat trem or string-thru.
By the way - I bought it. :P
-
take off the strings, take out the springs in the back, the trem should pop right out.
-
:D Damn wrong type of pawn shop !

+1
my 470 is pretty nice, bar the trem. though don't pay over the odds for it- it's a good guitar, rather than an amazing one. just remember you can get a 1570 new for around £450.
EDIT: it would be worth checking to see if it has been drilled for the OFR studs (better) or if it still uses the lo-trs studs. the lo-trs ones are smaller.

Can anyone recognise, lol?

No, but I'm sat at the same desk :)

The desk is shite! :(
-
I know! But it is small and cheap which were my main buying features :)
Edit: Looks like a nice buy for £200, just need to get that dust off it and drop some BKP's in there!
-
I got it for £169 :)
-
Even better!
-
Are you sure that's an OFR?
In that shot you can't see the logo.
-
It looks like a licensed floyd rose in true ibanez fashion(Licensed Under Floyd Rose Patents). I think it's a lo-trs, but don't quote me on that.
-
Hmm.. It probably isn't then. Hmmm.. Oh well, I guess. Can't return it now.
-
Looks like a LO_TRS licensed floyd copy
But for £169 the guitar is a steal
Could be something like a RG320 or similar
Great for £169
