Title: pickup height
Post by: JDC on December 25, 2007, 02:01:04 AM
I was thinking of adjusting my pickup height, if I touch a string and let go, it'll ring out, even if I touch it right next to the bridge, hell just tapping on one string without touching the others makes wounds ring out

just wondering if this is normal, I've only got one guitar so I've got nothing to compare

pickups are ceramic by the way, I did slightly low the action ages and ages ago but I never did anything with the pickup height

thanks

The only advice I can give here is to remember to count the number of turns that you give each screw, so that you can return it to its original position - if you need to.

I think strings will always resonate when others are played, all that vibration has to go somewhere.

In terms of sensitivity maybe your pups are a little high, I had to experiment quite a lot before I got a balance I liked, I love the mids my NB's produce when they are as close to the strings as I can get them, but the lows get too boomy, so I had to lower them a bit. You could try mounting them at a slight angle, a bit lower on the low E side. I haven't tried to mess with the pole heights yet, but you can do quite a lot just with the overall height.
