Title: ColorSound Wah
Post by: MrBump on December 30, 2007, 07:39:02 PM
So I'm still on my quest for tone.

Having ditched the bland Charvel branded pickups for Nailbombs, and ditched the DigiTech GNX3 in favour of more "boutique" tonal solutions, I remembered something that I had stashed away in my loft many years ago - a ColorSound Wah.

I love wah wah pedals.  I know what people say about then, they suck tone etc, but they're funkey!

This one needs some work, I bought it in about '91, no idea how old it was before I got it.  I think that the pot needs replacing, which I can probably do.  But I might like to try modifying it, bring a bit more out of the stock setup.

Does anyone know of any good resources for this?  Can't find much online.

Cheers.

Mark.

I was looking for Colorsound info recently too and didn't find much apart from this like   http://www.macaris.co.uk/
I had a Colorsound Fuzz/Wah/Swell many years ago that I regret parting with.
It was noisy but absolutely unique.

Yeah, thanks Pagan.  Saw that online, I guess I might have to get in touch.

Title: You need the wah-wah doctor!

I'd suggest you contact Stuart Castledine at www.wah-wah.co.uk. He's a top bloke who really knows his stuff on all things wah and effects related.

I use a Budda Bud Wah on my pedal board and had him install a new board with trimmable settings.

He also put a new pot and a true bypass in my Colorsound wah. I really love the sound and sweep of it but I just don't think it's sturdy enough for regular gigging!

Hope this helps.
