Does it make much of a difference to run a 16 and a 8 ohm speaker from my TT(has three outputs 8, 8 and 16), than say linking up 2 16ohm speakers and running them at 8 ohms
-
If these are 2x8 Ohm outs then it should be fine as on one out the speaker is 8 Ohm (=match) and the other one is 16 Ohm (=speaker impedance higher = OK).
However, if they are series with a total load of 8 Ohm at the TT, it should not be done as the overall load of a 16 Ohm and an 8 Ohm cab will be lower than 8 Ohm and you could blow the amp.
-
will have the TT 16ohm to 16ohm speaker and TT 8ohm to 8ohm speaker
-
That's a no-no mate. You should only ever use the 8ohm outs or the 16ohm out. Never both at the same time...

I am wondering if not you'd have a legal situation due to the fact that Orange deliver the TT without any instructions/manual. Aren't they liable for any issues as a consequence?
-
Ahh didn't realise that....what will happen if I do? and how much difference will it make to sound running my g12h at 8ohms

That's a very good point.
I, for one, haven't got a bloody clue about all this 8 ohms/16 ohms/impedance stuff. I read what you guys write, but it goes straight back out of my head. :(
Good job I've only got one cab.
-
so am now confused can I run a 8ohm speaker and a 16ohm speaker connecting them to the 2 8ohm sockets..so running them both at once
-
You can, but it won't be ideal. You risk damaging the output transformer...
-
ahh damn....thought had a bargain...virtual new unused c12k Jensen but is 8ohm..my g12h is 16ohm
-
You need another 16ohm to run in parallel, giving an 8ohm load ;)
-
or another 8ohm for series
-
think will get a 16ohm v30 and keep jensen for a 1x12

Why that? If you hook up both 8ohm jensens to the amp as being a single 'cab (so you need 2 input jacks on the cab for 2x 1x12) it should be fine. Or cant the TT run 2 cabs?
I would definately like a cab with 2 jensens wired that way, you can also take one speaker out playing at home, seems practical to me at least.
You can also keep the V30 as a seperate 1x12 cab, so you have some choises cabwise.

You really should start reading threads properly Henk. Sgmypod doesn't have 2 Jensen speakers and you've not understood what he was asking.
Sgmypod wanted to use the 16ohm tap and the 8ohm tap of his TT's output transformer at the same time. That's a complete no-no if you value your amp!

Umg ok soz TF.....
-
Sorry Henk - didn't mean that to sound as nasty as it did! I should use smilies a bit more ;)
-
No worries m8, i should read treads better, but i must say it wasnt very obvious to me at least........

sorry wasn't the best wrote post
