Title: Abraxas neck and bridge in superstrat.
Post by: steve on January 04, 2008, 12:19:01 PM
Hi, here is a Abraxas neck/bridge set in a strat style guitar. Valve pedal to pod then into digital recorder. The song is called "Stratosfear".

I have not been around here for a while due to work and band commitments but i would like to wish everyone a happy new year.Steve

to my ears thats the perfect superstrat tone, you can tell with in three seconds of hearing the clip.. it could hardly be more pure ;) something like a mix of van halen and iron maiden.

your combination of valve pedal and pod has always worked out very well... by the way, i seem to recognise this track, is it an update of one you uploaded before?

stratosfear would be a cool name for the guitar you played this track with.

Yeah, it was gone from the forum and I asked him to re-upload it.

In other news, Tim talked me out of the Abraxas and into the mule. Got that coming anytime now.

Tim did the same with me, and im happy he did. Not that the Abraxas dont sound great but in one of my heavy gibsons they would turn out quite dark i think.

They do sound excellent in a superstrat though, so maybe they would turn out allright in a bright LP after all.

Food for thought i guess :wink:

@Steve

Thanks very much for posting the clip, sounds great!

Is the solo done with the neck pickup? The tone throughout is pretty killer.

I have a Schecter Tempest Custom (mahogany/maple top) and was thinking of putting in an Abraxas neck to get some creamy lead tones. Would that work out?

Hi, i recorded this about a year ago so my memory is a lttle blank but lstening back i can tell i start the solo on the bridge and when the solo builds to the higher notes its the warmer sounding neck pickup.from memory it was quite bright but in a good way,it cuts through heavy mixes. I would say it would do the job but best to check with Tim first.Cheers.
