anyone?
-
they havnt been doing them long so its unlikely many people around here will have one. I know a few people here have the original one though.
I was going to order one but they reckoned a little rock would suit me better for a good all round pleaser... so i had a little rock on the provison that they made it red with a white face plate.. and they did.. and i love it!!
-
yeah like the look of the little rock and the minimat2
-
Apparantly the Little Rock and Minimat 2 are very similar, that's why the Little Rock has been discontinued. The built in attenuator of the Minimat makes it a better option for most people - the master volume on the Little Rock isn't the best.
The Little Rock is a cracking amp, and has a superb tone. That's why, out of the two, I sold my Tiny Terror........
-
Yeah shame your keeping hold of the little rock *S*
-
Kicks the TTs butt for tone IMO
-
think even if I buy one will keep the TT love mine

If you're all basing your Little Rock opinions on my clips then you should really hear one in person. My clip recording gear is cr@p.
However....
In my opinion, the Little Rock sounds cack when compared to a Tiny Terror. I'm actually going to get mine checked to see if there's a fault with it. It permanently sounds like there's a c--ked wah in front of it.
Your comments on 25th October and my previous disappointment with my Minimat 1 stopped any GAS I had for the Little Rock.

I think we need to take this topic to the Matamp board!

It is such a shame I cannot make decent soundclips because the minimat is a stonkingly good amp when you work out how to use it.
I plugged mine in recently and it instantly brought a huge smile to my face.
-
Yeah, but they have that new Little Rock combo 2x12 out now.
-
^COMBO?!
-
ain't that a custom...WEM dominator lookalike
-
Just checked the site. The combo looks VERY cool.
£800 though. Jeez.
-
yeah it was just a one off and cost about £800.
They do offer the new minimat in a 1x12 combo format but i havnt seen one of those yet.

Ted - it's all a matter of personal preference - I'm probably one of the oldest members of this forum and had a Matamp OR100 back in the 70's so I have managed to "work out how to use it" - after all there are only a limited number of combinations you can get with Boost, Volume and Tone . (At the risk of eternal damnation from Matamp users I prefered the 100watt Marshall Plexi I traded for the Ormat - sorry). To my (old) ears the best Matamp clips I have heard are all with pedals in front the amp (DAM for stoner/doom, tubescreamer etc for rock). I prefer to have an amp with a good basic sound which is not overly dependant on pedals. I found that I could get a much better sound with my Cornford Hurricane and Hellcat at minimum volume settings (no pedals) than the Minimat dimed out with a multitude of pedals in front of it (including Xotic BB, modifed tubescreamer, DS1,SD1). BUT, as I said, that's my taste - I know a lot of people don't like the Cornford sound.
P.S. It appears there may be some issues with the Minimat 2 tone. Comments in this thread by The Finn are exactly what I found with my Minimat 1:-

As the "cure" seems to be a simple single component change it would be great if Matamp could provide either a switch or two seperate inputs to give "Normal" (standard Matamp setting) and "Bright" (more sparkle/top end)
