his tone is ridiculous!

We connected these amplifiers together, I thought and you know were like fixing a little bit of sound and suddenly I had this great feeling with the sound, like 'This is cool, I like this." And then he said: "No $%&#ing way, it's not good enough! No way!" And I said: "Erm… okay. (laughs) okay." And I think the sound kicks ass, and the he connected three amps, and still he never got satisfied. We were working for three days, and then he found this very old, old shitety amp, it was a throwaway, you know. It was some piece of shite he almost had forgotten about just lying out there in the studio, and he connected that and then he pushed the right button and everything becomes more juicy, he's a $%&#ing magician!
That's the best I can find. A shitety amp, lol..

you know most of it is the fact that a couple of their early albums (Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism, Pure Holocaust) were tuned a half step higher than normal. Also, you must remember that some of these guys were wizards with the 4-track, everything that you hear on the earlier albums is highly manipulated in the treble range for such effects.
