Title: Wiring question
Post by: kellar on January 16, 2008, 09:04:00 AM
I was changing out all my electronics last night in my Les Paul and noticed that I cut my wire too short, the long one that goes from the toggle switch to the jack. So, me being a mechanic, I figured I would improvise and solder the two together so that it would reach. It seems to have worked ok. Anyone see a problem with this?? I wasn't sure if it would work. figuring it may cause a short or grounding issue, excess static, or something of that nature. Since I will be opening the guitar up again in a few days to put in a pair of Mules, I wanted to know if I should go buy a new wire and change that one out. Any advice??? Think I will be having any problems down the line???

Can't see any issues there, did you use a bit of electrical tape / shrink wrap to insulate the connection?

No. I stripped a bit of the braided wire back, twisted the two ends together and then sealed it with soder.
