Title: 7-String EMG routing size question.
Post by: _Rebourne_ on January 20, 2008, 05:37:02 AM
Hi,

I have a 7-String that has EMG 707's in it and I want to replace them with a ceramic warpig bridge and a cold sweat neck.  However, the EMG's appear to be a bit larger than normal pickups.

So I was wondering if the Warpigs and such will fit into the guitar?

i have also wondered this in the past as the emg707s are fitted into bass guitar pickup cases arent they?

emg 707 is 3.5" long by 1.5" wide

a 7 string humbucker is about 3" long by 1.5" wide without the tabs so by the time you have a mounting ring it should just about cover the hole but you might not have anywhere for the screws to go.

I havnt swapped pickups like these before but i reckon it should work with minimal problems.  Possibly need to add some wood for the ring to attach to  and maybe remove some so the pickup fits neatly

personally i would get the pickups and mounting rings and possibly end up modifying the mounting rings with a bit of old scratchplate material if things didnt quite fit nicely

Would it be possible to make a mounting ring out of the bass sized pickup covers?
