I'm hoping to go this year, are things generally cheaper there?
Also feel free to discuss the show too :P
-
You wont be able to buy anything there this year .
They have changed the format - trying to make it more like NAMM or Frankfurt in theory.
So you can look and try stuff but not buy stuff - apart from stuff like t shirts
-
I thought it was just big items like guitars and amps you couldn't buy this year. I thought selling accessories (strings, pickups, pedals, etc.) was still OK.
-
That really sucks. I was hoping to buy something this year. Dammit.
-
Thats quite shite then
-
Oh - For goodness sake!
Wanted to buy an axe!
-
Johnathon, will you have a stand? :)
-
wtf? can't buy anything? what's the point in going?
-
Just thinking that myself......
-
Haha i was thinking of going but i'm not so sure anymore!
-
whats the point in going?!
hello... drinkies!!

i don't know about you, but most of my 'real' friends aren't into hard rock or metal, and couldn't give a sh!t about my guitar selection. man, i want to discuss that stuff over several beers.
-
^ Well, if all goes to plan I'll be in London again for this show, too!

internet nerds would rather sit at home on the internet than go out? who knew?
seriously though, if i weren't separated by sea, i'd be there.
-
My lift for it and buddy that was gonna go has fallen through (its at the same time as download and he wants to go to that, because he "always does")
I dont know if I'm going now. I'll see how stuff pans out.

for $%s sake.. me ben and phil are some of the members who are the farthest away from london and still went, to meet up.. what a bunch of lazy ass bar-stewards you lot are
my plans for this years LGS are still in the.. probably not section. and seeing how my job is turning out, it's slowly moving into the surely not this year bin.
-
hey, if you guys really want to be buying guitars whilst there i will chuck a few extra in the back of the car before we come down

Calm the $% down.
Not all of us Some people have higher priorities, and responsibilities - I'll be there, as I was last year, but doesn't mean everyone has the time and money to travel half the globe for what's really just an exhibition.

I believe Davey was speaking tongue-in-cheek, not meant to be taken seriously.

Breaking out the dancing queens again Dave
At least this year we know the real way to get to the exhibition from the hotel. Walking along the edge of the main road with a hangover isn't the best start to the day.
Yes, I will be there again too

yea, who the hell knew there was a walkbridge over the river too! :P
-
Johnathon, will you have a stand? :)
No - I wont have a stand there, but I will be there in person - I might help Tim out (or Doug at Black Machine) but mostly looking forward to seeing a lot of you guys once again - Ben should be there and hopefully Davey too, Phil King, Johnny Mac, Afghan etc etc - too good to miss
I had already decided to take a year out anyway as I needed a break from the huge amount of preparation and making of new stock that is required, then when my colleague died and it would be just myself doing it all , it was far too much to deal with, so that added to my decision to skip a year.
ALSO
There have been a number of changes to the show itself - some of which that have left me feeling unsure about it - so I will go along and check out if I want to do it the next year.
What changes?
1)The show will now run over 4 days (plus another day to set up)[/list:u]
2)The show will be about 4 times the size because it is a complete Music show, but just like at NAMM or Frankfurt it means that you will only just get around it all in a day and many people will not bother to spend time checking stuff out like they have done previously and that will mean we get to chat to less people in depth[/list:u]
3)The cost of having a space at the show has gone up by about 25% which makes my small stand over £2000 which is a lot of money out of my pocket- added to 4 nights in a hotel and having my business shut for a week - added to another £500 just for electricity & lights - added to £200+ for van hire and you can see how it gets expensive, especially when....[/list:u]
4) You will not be able to sell large items from the show such as guitars or amps etc, and I'm not convinced that people will be so keen to pay a deposit and complete the deal later in the week over the phone and have the guitar shipped to them- I kind of believe that you get the hots for the item and you want it now (otherwise you may cool off from the idea)[/list:u]
So I have reservations about it all, but I will be there and catch up with you guys and hang out and have a laugh!
-
must ... get ... to ... london!

That would be the best of both worlds!
It's the same for me, no-one except for a few mates are in to guitars but those ones can't understand the importance of BKP's, custom made axe's
and amps that sound amazing and cost a fortune ect, so that outlet is here and the LGS.
Also those of you making excuses already, I'm baffled! You have months to put together a contingency plan. How you gonna make it in the world if you can't even sort out a day out!!!
-
I've been blessed with mates who are into decent music and a few of them play so its good :)
As for going to LGS, I just cant be arsed to be honest

I've long since resigned myself to never making it in the world. Now I'm just marking time, waiting for the Grim Reaper....
