No, too Britpop/Indie.  And just generally shitee, I have to say.  Novelty scratchplates are a bit like holiday souvenirs - they seem amusing at the time but in the cold light of a drizzly morning back in Blighty you wonder what you were thinking of....

Sorry, gwEm, no offence intended.

NO... sadly the "stars and stripes" & "rising sun" totally out-cool the Union Flag on guitars

Though take heart gentlemen...

We shall rock on to the end, we shall rock in France,
we shall rock on the seas and oceans,
we shall rock with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall rock our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall rock on the beaches,
we shall rock on the landing grounds,
we shall rock in the fields and in the streets,
we shall rock in the hills;
we shall never surrender,

ADD WE NEVER SHALL BE SLAVES!! PDT_003

I would say yes. Brit pop is long gone.

Be yourself. If you want a Union Jack scratchplate - go for it.

Screw what anyone else thinks of it.

Nope, tacky and un-cool imo. Yes, even the rising sun pg (though I did like it once, my tastes have evolved since then) :P

I reckon a swastika in a white circle on a red background would look cool

I think it is only cool to use a flag from another country. Using your own country's  flag can sometimes seem a tad nationalistic and if you are being ironic, who is to know?

well, maybe i am a bit nationalistic - about england's hard rock and metal heritage anyway.

yoshi's rising sun graphic is definately cool, but perhaps because that flag no longer exists in that form. a modern day japanese flag wouldn't look as good.

normally i'd think this, but at the same time i don't want to seem like a stella drinking english football hooligan, or a depressed emo student listening to the verve.

maybe because most of use are english we also see the negative sides of what the flag represents... this vote hasn't really helped me to decide - maybe its even made it a bit worse by bringing up some extra points  - lol ;)

Another consideration - those scratchplates with graphics aren't exactly cheap, so it's money down the drain if you decide you don't like it.

When I were a lad I went through a phase of buying different WD scratchplates for a Strat I built - I had mirrors, "tie-dyes", various plain colours, a clear plate with a cartoon picture under it... cost a fortune.  I ended up with 3-ply white/black/white.

The Union Jack is too Indie/britpop indeed. The Rebel is cool but only if it's used in a non discriminating way. So only use it if you're Southern or play Southern music.

I'm guessing there is some kinda social commentary in that comment, but damned if I can figure it out.

Social commentary!!!!  I was being down right offensive - don't dress mutton up as lamb

It would look cool if you were in a Skrewdriver cover band (and were a Nazi)

I thought you were talking about the Imperial Japanese Navy flag and equating it with the Nazi flag.

ironic, as stella is Belgian.

But anyway. I think it looks daft. The union jack isnt exactly that good looking.

Kind of put your style in a corner if you ask me, which i dont like.

Apart from that, it is a very cool graphic, so if it looks good on your guitar, why not. You could however also change the colors maybe, like black and red on a white surface or something like that maybe, would be sweet.....
