as loads of people on the megadeth board love them but wont seperate with that much money just from average players clips.
-
I really hope that:
Duncan dont get their clammy paws on him
Mustaine gets swayed by the superbness of the BKs and drops Duncan
-
Sometimes what sways an endorsement as much as anything will bethat a large(ish) compny will give the artist a lot of profile support like advertising in the mags with pix of the player and info on their album/tour etc.
Mustaine will get a well made product - maybe hand wound by Seymour or one of the custom shop guys but what Mustaine's/Megadeth's management may/will be swayed by is the thousands of dollars worth of promotion that Duncan will do for them. Sometimes it's jut hard business at the end of the day that wins out even if the player is passionate about something (else).
But it would be great if Dave were inspired by Chris!

Theres a good chance Broderik will have to endorse the same brands that Mustaine is using, seems to have been the case with previous guitarists.

I agree with this line of thinking. Mustaine is like a freight train when it comes to supporting his sponsors, which is what they are -- it's way beyond a simple endorsement "I like this product". Mustaine wants everyone to use the guitar he's being sponsored with (this month it's Dean, I believe), drink the coffee he drinks, and wear the shirts he wears.
It reminds me of that bit in The Last Action Hero when Ahnold's wife (Maria Shriver) is like, "Please don't mention Planet Hollywood". Must Mustaine mention his goddam coffee and clothing lines in every guitar interview??!
-
i really liked his Jackson Y2KV. I remember I was gutted when he then went on to endorse some other brand since I was planning to get one. It this point I read some interview why he changed endorsement, and there was no good reason why frankly. At this exact point I realised all this signature gear stuff was often bullsh!t, and I lost a bit of the respect I had for Mustaine.

He's basically had the same guitar built by Jackson, then ESP and now Dean. I know the specs have changed a bit and of course the cosmetics have to be a little different, but the main reason must be the endorsement package itself.

This kind of sums it up .....
Money, get away.
Get a good job with good pay and youre okay.
Money, its a gas.
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think Ill buy me a football team.
-
i think you mean:
If theres a new endorsement
I'll be the first in line
But, it'd better pay more this time
Gear sells, but whos buying?
Gear sells, but whos buying?

Can you put a price on gear?

I agree. Based on the guitar in the background of the vid posted here http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11147 he's already got a Dean on the go. I would bet he'll be using Duncan active Livewires before too long, mainly because I would doubt Mustaine will let him use anything else - Drover ended up using Deans, Duncans and Line amps.
I wish Mustaine would shut up about the coffee too, he's in danger of talking more about his bloody product lines than his music.

Just like Gene $immons................Kiss the brand , not Kiss the band

Mustaine has his own coffee?
Thats pathetic.
Unless....hes...
"Here to make coffee METAL. Dave will make everything METAL. Blacker than the blackest black, times infinity"
-
I don't think he's in it for the cash...
he's in it because he's a douche.

So, much the same reason he's in megadeth and not metallica?
(Not that being in metallica would've protected him from douche-ness in the long run. He just got there faster)

Not quite he goes to coffee shops and drinks there coffees and tells them which he likes best then they put it in a special "dave mustaine cup" and i think they add something to the price
its not actually his coffee its his preffered coffee
http://www.legendscupcoffee.com/
basically theyre using him as a brand
actually i corrected myself.....
he is selling coffee

also apparently broderick will be using deans with BKS and marshall plexis
as will mustaine (apart from the bk part)
-
ENGL won't really appreciate that... but they're cool guys over there, im sure they will understand.
And he was fired from Metallica, he's a dick... an influential dick, but still a dick.

Ooh, excellent. CS/Mule combination was one I seriously considered for awhile. Oh well, for another guitar perhaps.
