Yeah man, got the album, seen him live and shook hands with him.  The guy's a dude.

Honest to god, it was the best gig I've ever been to.  We were sat on the side of the stage about 3 meters from him.  He was rather drunk

He wouldn't smoke any of my joint though, said he heart attack a few years back and gave up smoking.

If I could sort out photo's on this laptop, I'd show you my wife's Seasick Steve undies (honestly).

haha yeah i met him and got a picture after the Brum gig, very cool guy, between blowing people away during his songs he just kinda wanders up and down the stage jokingly picking fights with people, basically like a drunk tramp! funny guy.

I think his best comment was "Hey, shut the f**k up, I'm trying to sing you to you about dying" just before he burst out laughng.

Love SSS - Its great to return to delta style blues after all the tedious SRV boogie stuff that has been going on for ever.

Son House anyone?

Seen him twice at reading fest and the oxford carling academy, and he's great. Best quote:
male audience member: "I want your babies!"
Steve: "well, ya aint exactly my first choice"

Saw him on Jools Holland at new year. He was the best damn thing on the show by a country mile! Proper Delta blues, with loads of feel. You can tell he's lived it.

Well at £13 odd a ticket he won't be living it any longer.
I'm happy for him, but at the same time I feel like there's probably hundreds of hobos out there that are just as talented, but without the publicity.

You students eh, £13 a ticket expensive - are there any tickets cheaper or have I lived in London too long?

Sea Sick Steve stopped being a hobo in the 60s - I mean he was supporting Son House in 66 so he wasn't a hobo then - He now lives in Norway with his wife, which is why he's here alot.

haha well at the oxford academy I've never paid more than £8 to see a band :P and I've seen a LOT of bands there, many of whom actually use guitars with 6 strings, and manage to cover their expenses just fine! If he stopped being a hobo in the 60s why does he still dress and smell like one?

I think 13 quid is a decent price for seeing somebody who entertains me, considering when I left London in October it was 4 quid a pint (and more in Canary Wharf)

Unfortunitly the repeat of the Jools Holland sohow a couple of weeks ago they completely cut SS Steve from the show.

Strangely Mika impressed me (on that show) due to the fact that he spent most of the last song getting SST to sing (rather than pushing himself forward)

Young Mr I Smith, your logic is flawed, there are lots of people on public transport who dress and smell like hobos who walk into the well heeled offices of multinational corporations for their daily employment every day.  In fact I have always advocated the creation of a special hygiene police with caustic soda bubble bath guns for such stinkos  :D

Like that bootik amp and custom shop guitar    Even if you don't like that sort of music it shows what you can do with feel and enthusiasm.

Great stuff - even my wife started tapping her feet when we saw him on the Jools Holland NYE show - (she was pissed though)
