Title: Opinions? (Urd dressed as Sailor Jupiter)
Post by: Sailor Charon on February 01, 2008, 08:08:09 PM
This is what I'm having put on my Les Paul (just Urd, obviously) while it gets fitted with Painkillers.

Anyway, does anybody have any tips on recording my guitar playing? And what sort of clips do people want? My thinking is to just go through a few riffs with each guitar, both with overdrive on and off to give a better comparison...

Riffs, licks, then the (if you have one) song that made you want 'that' sound, or at least one of them.

And the whole Sailor thing = AWESOME, who is doing it for you?

Please don't make a good guitar lame with anime, unless you are 13 and a tad emo :(

I think the cartoons are a great way of personalising your guitar, you have another one that has been done? would make a nice pair methinks.

Always the worry of resale though :P

I would prefer Shyriu from "Zodiac Knighters/Saint Seya" (don't know the name there), but Ok...  :D

Clips? I like clips like Tim did with Nailbomb & Rebell Yell, not "riffage madness", but some thing that you can really HEAR the tone of the guitar!

 ^^

Well...
To answer the various questions.
1. It's currently cherry sunburst
2. A guy who lives in Heage does them for me, with an airbrush. He charges me £150 to paint them and fit a set of pickups.
3. I'm certainly not planning to sell it - or indeed any of them.  Granted, it isn't an SG and the upper fret access is harder work. But other people don't have a problem, so I'll just try harder.
4. If I was 13 and a tad emo, I wouldn't be playing guitar, I'd be piloting a big flippin' robot. :) Seriously though, as someone who's been an anime fan for 16 years...

i'd personally put the anime on the back of the guitar. Now you may think thats crazy, but i think of it as an area on the guitar to make the picture BIGGER

Good call.

Joe Satriani has a silver surfer on the back of one his guitars and Yngwie has a Ferrari logo. There are loads of other guys with these things on the back and it makes people wonder what you have on the back (especially if they only catch a glimpse).

Fair enough then! Can I ask, (I don't wish to offend or anything) but what is it that you see in anime, it has never appealed to me personally, but theres alot of people who love it.

In a word, the variety. [It's a bit like saying 'what do you see in television?']
From silliness like Urusei Yatsura and Excel Saga, to character driven series like Maison Ikkoku, to serious SF like Zeta Gundam... and Armoured Trooper Votoms (That starts off grim, and then gets... strange)

It's just a medium or entertainment.

As Charon said, its like saying why do you like TV.

There are good anime, and bad anime - some are interesting, some are funny, some are exciting, some are action packed, some are shite.

etc.

Have you ever seen Violinist of Hameln? It does count as animation. Honest. :) [But only just]...
