UK, February 4, 2008 - Electronic Arts has just released predicted hardware sales for the coming year, with the Xbox 360 predicted to sell between 6 to 8 million units in North America and Europe, while the PS3 is expected to shift 9.5 to 11.5 million units.
The software giant expects the two consoles to be neck and neck in North America, with estimates for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 coming in between 4.5 and 5.5 million. It's in the European territories that Sony looks to steal a lead in the console race, with a predicted 5 to 6 million units sold as opposed to the Xbox 360 with 1.5 to 2.5 million. Nintendo's Wii is predicted to maintain a clear lead over the opposition, with combined European and North American sales of 12 to 14 million.
Meanwhile on the handheld front, the DS is again expected to triumph, with an estimated advantage over its chief rival Sony's PSP of around 8 million units.

Hell yes. PS3 for the win!
-
Wow, that means there's going to be even MORE people with a games console that has no games... odd.

OWN3D!

Aye, the sales might equalise, but the ps3 will still have a much smaller installed base, because up till now, the 360 has been beating it hollow...
Not that I have a horse in this race, in any shape or form. I'd quite like to have seen both fall flat on their faces.
-
Yeah but if more Game-Geeks transfer from X-c--k whatever to guitar it will mean prices will go higher!! Or is it lower?
-
Well, having a PC, PS3 and Wii. I can experience much to my pleasure.

Bah, I've never undertood mario games except on Gameboy.
Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock and Forza will keep me occupied nicely.
In all seriousness though, there is no game that would attract me to the Wii or PS3. Of all the PS3s major franchises (the few exclusives that remain, anyway), none are my kinda thing. Horses for courses as usual. :)

What is this forum again?

Prices would go higher, because of a surplus in PS3s and 360s. And someone would have to buy out the surplus in order for things to go smooth-sailing again.
-
^I thought a surplus of supply would result in lower prices...? Because surely excess demand would mean higher prices?
I dunno.

i'm still backing my megadrive (that's genesis to ben)... even though it's broken...

From reading this thread am I to summise that a thrird game worth owning has been releaseed on the PS3.
By saying third I'm making the assumption that a patch to fix the Orange Box set has been released (or is Drakes Revenge still sitting there being lonely)
-
xbox all the way. dont care if they get out sold they are still better overall.

I just noticed the other day that Gamestation sells megadrive games! for like a quid too!
Do you have gamestation over there?
-
Yeah my little local game shop (that's game with a little 'g'), had some old megadrives with a bunch of controllers and games for like £15 or something.
-
Cash (Crack) Converters are pretty OK for megadrive and Super Nintendo games too

Saturn was, is and will always be my favorite system.
I hear Petrucci brings one with him on tour always, that's just pure awesomeness. :)

Really? what was good on the saturn? All i remember was Sega Rally.

I have a PS3, 360 and Wii. In my opinion the 360 is the best in terms of player experiance, it's a better designed interface, and I do prefer the games for the 360.
The Wii is great fun to play around with, but not much for the hardcore gamer.
The PS3 comes last I'm afraid, very good specs, but nothing to impress me that much over the 360, the interface says 'the 360 did it right first, so we have to settle for 2nd best'. No games to make me glad I've got a PS3. Hopefully it will come into its own, but I'll be buying GTA 4 for the the 360.

I don't know if all of the games I loved playing on it were exclusive, but a few of them gave me fond memories.
guardian heroes - best 2d side scroller beat'em up ever, omg what a blast, beautiful animation, good story, lots of chaotic onscreen brawls.
bomberman, bomberman 3d - awesome party games.
various sonic games, sonic R, pretty cool racing/rpg type game
darius special(or something), and all these other vertical / horizontal shooters that I can't even remember the names of. But we used to play the cr@p outta them. :)
princess crown - cool RPG that uses some kind of vector sprite animation system, it's way awesome for its time.
panzer dragoon series - who could forget.
virtua fighter 2- even though I sucked at it, I played it till no tomorrow.
a whole bunch of SNK games were perfectly adapted to the saturn, those took away a good chunk of my life. they're WAY cheaper than the NeoGeo carts ($350 US) and they run like ass on the PSX.
and some of those games really influenced my guitar playing, they had some nice hardrock / shred / jazz tracks, good guitar playing on their King of Fighters ASTs (arranged soundtrack)
Nights Into Dreams, another classic.
J-League Soccer, I think this was developed by the Winning Eleven people?
Daytona USA.
Mr.Bones, freakin amazing sidescrolling platformer/puzzle game. Some stages are groove/music puzzles and come with nice funky blues soundtrack, one of the best games on the system.
Virtua Cop
the Die-Hard 3d beat'em up was pretty nice too.
That's all I could recall off the top of my head.

Good calls on all those games.
also there was D
resident evil
- even though this was on other consoles it rocked on saturn
hardcore 4x4 - absolutely cr@p game but the sound effects were accurate.
also mass destruction - you just drove a tank around and blew stuff up
i cant think of any off the top of my head
actually the original GRANDIA
maybe one of the greatest rpgs of all time after the FF series.

We all know Dreamcast was by far the best console ever made.
Nothing beats how fun DC games were.

Wont a lot of that difference due to the fact that so many people already own 360's. PS3 can out sell the 360 this year but still not be a more popular console.
Sounds possibly like a case of damned lies and statistics to me
