My Vote = St Albans - The Horn.
They have the battle of the bands there.
They have killer cover bands.
The Red Hot Chili Beans, are on this weekend. I have never seen such good cover bands as those that have performed there. The Hendrix one just blows you away.

O2 ARENA!!!

The best live venues are all gone, with only a web page as a memorial:

The Sir George Robey was the best - I played there in the late 80s in a number of bands.

Vicar Street in Dublin! tiny yet attracts big names. will be seeing Satriani there soon!
-
Haven't been to a good one yet, but of the few that I've been to. I guess the Trivium, Mendeed & God Forbid was the best.
I SO want to see Satriani when he comes to Belfast, but I don't think they have tickets anymore. :(
-
I didnt know he was playing Belfast ;)
I guess I had better start tracking down down some former workmates to see if they can aquire me a couple of tickets.
-
I honestly hope nobody mentions Camden Underworld
MK Pitz isn't bad I guess.
AY civic centre was good for what it was, loads of space for socialising whilst avoiding the mostly shitee bands around the local area
-
Barfly is decent as well. Very small (at least the Camden one is anyway) and the bands always hang out in the bar downstairs afterwards.
-
I was at barfly in Liverpool for Dark Tranquillity on Sunday, the singer went up to the barrier to work the crowd... then he got grabbed and crowd surfed to the back of the room and then back onto the stage, followed by the whole room moshing
best gig I've been to in a long while, it even beats the time a singer in some support band shot a beer bong of beer at the crowd and I pretty much got it all in the face, I was really drunk and thought it was absolute brilliant
-
Nottingham Rock City or Bradford Rios, Bloody great venues. Great acoustics & the atmosphere (cue russ abbott) is amazing

O2 ARENA!!!
It's incredible. I saw Prince there and it is just amazing.
I'm in Liverpool and my favourites are the Carling Academy (seen some amazing gigs there) and the Barfly where my band itself is playing on April 18th!! :D
I like Satan's Hollow in Manchester too.
Worst venue ever has to be the former Mean Fiddler, now Astoria 2.
-
I love the Camden ones (Underworld, Barfly) it's probably just me but i always get a better feeling at gigs when it's a nice smaller place and when you have a drink with the bands afterwards than something like the Astoria, though i have to say on the other end of the spectrum i loved Wembley Stadium, the atmosphere was immense.
-
The Hammersmith Odeon was always a favorite of mine. Brixton Academy isn't bad either or the old Town and Country. Is that still called The Forum? One I never got to go to was The Rainbow in Finsbury Park. When it closed down it was due to 'subsidence' and considered 'unsafe'. It was then used perfectly safely and without any evidence of underpinning by J.W's.
-
Rock City is pretty decent the main stage tho, the basement has terrible sound.
-
Tapestry fesival
Flowerpot in Derby

My Vote = St Albans - The Horn.
'tis a good venue for rock bands, low ceilings, an inch of beer on the floor and the PA is LOUD.
The Glastonbury main stage at sunset is pretty damn good though, gotta love the Brixton Academy too.

UK;
Hammy Odeon
Marquee Club
Rock Club
Texas;
Cynthia Woods Arena (small outdoor venue)
Verizon Wireless Theatre (very small but has big names)
Meridian Club (more relaxed club place has upcoming bands)

Of all the venues I've been in, you'd go a long, long way to beat the Barrowlands.

Dave Grohl's favourite venue, the Glasgow Barrowlands Ballroom. A converted ballroom in a dodgy part of town. Throw in some awesome acoustics and a sound guy who knows what he is doing and a decent crowd and it's the best in the world.
Rage Against the Machine apparently played there and blew the roof off. Not literally but if I could time travel...
