Hi all, I've been looking at BKPs for my Burny LP for a while now, I play a lot of styles, so i need decent cleans but also quite heavy distortion (not like uber metal, but Maiden/Rhoads) and everything inbetween.
So i was thinking pafs,I like the clips i've heard, and I think a Mule in the neck is a good choice, good for cleans, but i also solo a lot in the neck so it should handle that too (correct me if im wrong please)
As for the neck though, I'm wondering if a Mule will be good for me, should I try a hotter p/u? maybe a blackdog?
any help appreciated. Thanks

sorry, I play through a JCM900 4501 and a Maxon OD808 if that helps

I think a straight mule set would do whatever you need very well indeed.
I've always thought of BKP's as sets that really are ment to go together, unlike the competitors where i'd mix and match like crazy.
But that's just how i see it... and anyway, the mules seem to handle everything anyone has ever thrown at 'em!

Welcome to the board!
I'd go with a matched pair of Mules all the way for you... They can handle anything you care to throw at them.

I've got a Mule neck and Black Dog in the bridge in my LP and its great.
My fav pickup out of the two is the blackdog. The Mule can cover all grounds well but the blackdog is slightly hotter. I'd listen to Hunters clips of the Blackdog. There is a recent post of the black dog doing heavy stuff in the players forum and plenty of rock style clips of both pickups.
I dont have means to record them sorry.

Just one thing to remember is that the Mule neck is quite a 'full' sounding pickup. If you like fat neck tones, then a set of Mules will be perfect for you.
I like a slightly more open neck tone, so my preferred combination is a Mule bridge with an Alnico IV magnet Stormy Monday in the neck.

hey thanks everyone, theres a lot to think on there, I'm liking the stormy monday/mule for a more open neck p/u, but ill research it more
:D thanks again
