... so, will the Cold Sweat get me close?
I'm thinking '74-75, the She Knows, Rosalie, Fighting tone, more than the the Jailbreak tone.
-
I think it will get you close TO,but maybe check out the Emerald first.I believe Tim voiced these around the early Lizzy tone.(Correct me if im wrong).I think the CS have a certain 80's feel to them with a really fat bottom end. They are very versatile.
-
I have a Cold Sweat coming, and thought that would be a cool tone. No biggie, as I can always get another guitar to specifically do that kind of sound, if need be.
-
It will do the classic rock thang no problem but there is more juice available if needed for different styles. And youll love the sustain!!

You'll be buying a Les Paull next....

I'm not a LP fan, in terms of playing ... LP + my body just don't match up properly!
I would love a guitar that looks like a LP from head on, but has a tummy cut, 1-3/4" nut width, and other things I prefer in a guitar ...
It's a definite 'someday' guitar!!
-
That's my problem with LPs too, I'm used to strats. The PRS is as far as I can go....
Tim has a Les Paul with an extended cutaway and comfort contours.....I want it :!:
-
I know what you mean, i have always played strats. But in the last year i have been gigging a Les Paul.Playing the strat for half a set then changing to the les paul takes a little while to adjust to,different sized neck etc.

I am in the process of having all my guitar necks made to be identical for that very reason!
-
I kind of like it though,it keeps you on yours toes. The difference in necks that is.
-
Sorry Ben, the Cold Sweat is definately an '80s Sykes tone. For the earlier stuff I'd go for a Riff Raff or Emerald..........even your VH II in a LP will do it 8)

That's okay, I'm going to stick with the Cold Sweat; eventually I'll do some kinda LP project with that kind of sound in mind. Thanx for the add'l info.

Hi Ben,
I know you hate Les Pauls, but I have one with the Riff-Raff in the bridge, and one with an Emerald. If you want to hear them with your amp, I can bring them into the city.
Cheers

Now, how can I refuse that offer?! :)
I think we should definitely meet up one evening - that would be great!!
I also know a couple of great watering holes; nothing high end (I'm not the type), but very satisfying!! (Translation: beer is great, and wait staff is hot!)

Warmoth can do comfort contours (http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/bodies/contours.cfm) in LP (http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/bodies/lp.cfm?fuseaction=flatop_lp) bodies. add BK pups, your Gajic neck, you're sorted 8)

Can you get a set neck option????
-
You can get set neck kits at tnt custom guitars www.guitarpartsonline.com
Their site seems to be off line though.

Sounds like my perfect place! I will come over to see you at Sound by Singer and drool over the equipment there! We can work something out then. If I bring both the LP's it might be good to come in the car - mind you if I do that I can throw in some other stuff too! The perfect amp for apartments comes to mind (Lexicon Signature 284 - all valve stereo 3 watts - includes speaker emulation outputs that are really good). I'd probably bring the LP with the Abraxas too. Good for the Garry Moore tones. Of course then you might get into Les Pauls!
I'll try to get over Friday.
Cheers
Phil

That would be very cool; If Friday is looking like a reality, give me a call on Thursday, if you can, at 212-924-8600. Tell the receptionist you're looking for Ben. :)
-
I'll call tomorrow. Cheers
